Asto's second ebike Now with Videos Page 3

Hi all,

Had my second bike in action for a while now. It's a Giant 2010 00 Glory.
Here's a short video of me at our farm that my Daughter made for me late this arvo.

Enjoy

Nice one papa! We need to go for a day ride soon with the Gopros so I can get some video of you wheelying all over town.(we usually ride at night)

Great filming Avriti!

Thanks Brute this motor makes it easy, so much torque. Not much top speed but that's maybe a good thing.
Ezza flies past me at top speed like I'm standing still. Ha ha

I find mono`s very hard to do on an ebike as they have no engine braking . I flipped once so dont try anymore

It's a matter of having a motor with high torque + As soon as I pop it up I'm on the brakes. Practice on a up hill.
Once you learn were the balance point is on a bike and you become comfortable with that point then it's easy.

I like down hill because you don't need to use much throttle just brakes and scooter.

I'll try and get some decent video with Ezza soon maybe on a low tide on the beach.

We went for a ride tonight, Astan has his new 'fattie' on the back. I must have over 30minutes footage of Astan on the back wheel. Some are over one minute long! He could keep on the back wheel up to 45kmh compared to 35kmh with his old standard tyre. Here is a short one from tonight;

Cheers for the quick vid Ezza.
Cool different angle.
You done great to keep it in the shot.

Next time we'll get some footage of you wheeling the bomber.

Very impressive! I hope this new 4065 that's on the way run off 100 volts will give me what it takes to try the same thing! Well at a lower speed though.

Hi Tom,

Thanks mate, I've got the 5404 and run a single speed freewheel. It's got more than enough torque. I've only had ridden this motor and a 35 series. I find the 35s have too much top speed and no bottom end so when you pop it up it wants to keep winding out which makes it difficult. But that wasn't on a bike I was familier with so I believe with practice it could be done.

Good luck with the new motor.

It didn't all go well yesterday, This is a brand new motor and close to the end of the ride it started to stutter. So far I've worked out it could be sensor wires that go into the motor or the actual hall sensor inside.

Anyone have a thread on how to replace hall sensors and wires?

Man what a long wheelie that was. So I assume you are running your lipo's in your back pack? How much and how many?

I thought about trying the back pack thing but wonder about having 12-6s5000 lipo packs to weigh me down and beat against my back.

I'm running 5s 5000mah x 4packs and I have 3 of these packs in Fire protective bags. I also tape all wires on each pack before connecting.
But I'm gonna get a Bomber style aluminium frame made and put 10 maybe 15 AH's on the Bike so I only have to carry 5AH's in my back pack as backup. We usually go on a 35km ride in the afternoon after work.

Sweet wheelies man!
What you say about the higher speed motors is exactly right - I find I can pop the front wheel on my fighter easy enough but then it either wants to flip me over on its way to a silly top speed or I let off and it pops back down.

Bummer about the halls. Did the motor get hot ? Any axle shift that might have twisted the wires ? Replacing them is just a matter of removing the stator and popping them out and putting new ones in. Easy enough, just time consuming.

As soon as this crappy market breaks for me I plan to get a tig welder and build myself a bomber style frame too.

Thanks for the info and bummer on the halls sensors. I was told by many that they are super easy to replace but time consuming.

Thanks Hyena,

I have a 5403 motor on rim that I would like to try and see if I can wheelie with it. I sold 1 to a friend and he's put it on a Norco DH so I'll try his first. It may be just a matter of finding the balance point of a bike, But I could be wrong.

Has anyone done a Video on changing the Hall wires, I'm hopeing it's not the sensors, It shouldn't be though. That was the first ride that motor has been on.
It was only luke warm. My older motor has been hotter than that.

Hey did you end up getting those 200watt stickers for me yet? I forgot all about them.

I have pulled motor apart and checked continuity on all the hall wires and faze wires as well so that just leaves the sensors. Can I get these sensors in Australia, and or what are they.
