Astro 3210 group buy?

So, I am expecting the first wave of motors to arrive at customer's houses today and tomorrrow. :)

Who got their's first?

I have 4 more motors waiting here to be shipped. I also have some finished V2 drives ready (black ones).

Got mine, as advertised, dead black, 6 wires for delta-wye, etc, etc.

Now, just have to build a battery, build a transmission, save up for an ESC, and build the rest of the bike to go around it, and I'm done!

The new HV140 is a freakin BEAST! That may be the best thing running right now. I have two and a friend of mine is running a 3220 and a HV140. He is pulling 200 amps off that controller without problems!

I was expecting prices along the lines of the old HV110, but with so many features it is almost silly to expect that from the Ice HV160. Plus it has an extruded case with bolt holes. But, it is cheaper than the HV140's by a nice margin.

Cheaper than the HV140, and more features to boot. I love the progression of tech. We will be able to measure current ripple with these, and judge just how much our batteries sag under load. On board data logging will prove VERY useful.

HV110 and HV140 ESCs are dead in my eyes, I won't be ordering more. I am waiting on a shipment of Ice HV160 controllers at the moment.… Data logging and ripple voltage will be very handy info indeed.
Excellent price:

Price: $271.95

I think that's the lowest price Castle will allow him to list but in the past he has offered an ES Forum Discount via a Coupon code. It might be worth asking him if he will do that again.

I have two more heavy boxes of Astro Flight goodness here. Also, my carbon fiber recumbent frame showed up and my order of rims from Taiwan!

Ooooo, Christmas at Matt's house everyone!

For those who may have not gotten in on this group buy; Bob is willing to keep a modest discount running untill the last motor ships.

So, if anyone wants a motor, a 3220 would be $600 plus shipping and extra for added bits like double shafts, etc. A 3210 would be $330 and a 3215 would be $420.

If anyone is interested in adding themselves to the groupd buy at the end of the shipping line, let me know. :)

Matt,

I would like to order two 3215's (same as 8150 right?), anodized black, 6-wire, 1/2 inch dual long shafts, 5-turn 197rpm/v.
But, I would have to put it on a credit card. Can I do that??

Yes if you pay with Paypal (which is Matt's preferred option).

I can, also, accept credit cards through my appliance business. So, yes, that is fine. Actually, the cheapest way to do this is for you to send me a check. I pay a 4% credit card fee and 4% for Paypal. You will save that 4% if you send me a check.

I am home from noon throughout the say today. Feel free to give me a call.

I will PM you my number.

Matt,

Please add me to the group buy if possible. I would like a 5 turn 3220.

Thanks for all of your effort.

---UPDATE---

The last few motors are due to ship very soon from Astro Flight.

Today I spent time at the shop setting up drive unit parts. I have shafts made, some pulleys, some motor plates and other misc parts. The rest of the drive unit parts are due to be machined this week. The only hold up beyond that may be threaded freewheel adaptors for these drive units. I do not have enough in stock to complete all pending orders. Those parts are normally outsourced. I would have reordered them by now, however, we now have our own CNC lathe in the shop. We need to get that lathe wired so we can cut these adaptors in-house. I was hoping to have that done this week so we could be cutting FW adaptors by next week. That may not happen, though.

Lastly, because of the wait time for these drives, I have moved from the V2 drive I told you guys about earlier, to a V3. When we get the first run of V3 drives done, I will post pictures.

I am trying to make these drives as user friendly as possible and as reliable as possible. This drive system change has not delayed anything. I merely used the time waiting for the motors and put that toward updating the drives.

Hmm it takes 3-4 weeks to make a motor and a week or so for the shipping,
so while waiting to recive a 3220, the price dropped from $799 to $599.95.:?

Ohh well thanks AstroFlight.

Wow, that is weird........

I wonder what is going on. I know the 3210 went up from the original $300 to $400 overnight. Now teh 3220 dropped by 25%? That is great, but kind of strange at the same time.

Maybe our big group buy has them ramped up in production, so the price has dropped?

Weird..........

Of course, that may be only for the 5 turn they have in stock. They list two in stock (maybe the old style?). It also says they updated that page in 2008. Not sure what the deal is.
