Bafang G063 cable rubbing on rotor bolts

I just got a Bafang G063.1000d hub motor with the 14mm axle. You'll see in the first photo that the Anti-Rotation washer is pressing the cable into the rotor bolts, or at least not allowing a better angle on the cable.

I had the C-washer from my grin torque arm that doesn't work with this motor, so I used it as a spacer between the motor and the AR washer. You'll see in the second photo that it seems to work. There is space now for the cable without rubbing.

Does anyone see a problem with this solution? I'm heading off on a trip in two weeks and would hate to have a failure cause I was an idiot and didn't think of something.

Any suggestions?

Just a caution you're probably already aware of:

If those rotor bolts make contact with the cable, they'll rapidly wear thru it. Once they wear thru the insulation, they'll be shorting the conductors of the wires to each other and the frame/etc.

I would recommend ensuring the cable is well-secured to the frame in a way that guarantees prevention of it from touching anything that moves past it, regardless of spacers, etc.



FWIW, those Bafang cast-metal "antirotation" washers easily fracture at the step-change where the block sticks out from the rest of it, and then they dont' do anything to stop the axle from rotating.

Most of them also are not a fit for the axles they ride on, and the axle can move within them, making them useless for antirotation duty.

Hopefully yours is different, but it looks exactly like the ones I have here from my ex-Jump-bike motors, except yours may not be cracked yet. :/

Yeah, that's what I want to avoid.

I was not aware of the cracking. My plan was to use at least 1, maybe 2 Grin V6 Torque arms.

But the motor isn't compatible with my KT controller it seems. So I don't know what I gonna do now. Seems it's a common thing. I actually thought I was getting a G062. Probably gonna try and return it.
 
Had that problem once. I chamfered the rotor's six mounting holes, then used 12.9 countersunk fasteners (screws).

Groaning from the motor for like 15 seconds, then the motor shuts off. Controller worked with my old motor.
probably the wrong phase/hall combo. i don't think kt has autolearn, so you have to manually figure out the right combination if it doesn't.

if it has autolearn just use that. usually a wire pair you connedt momentarily, you'd have to check the manual for your version to find out.

Yes. I'm gonna contact the company I bought the controller from and ask what my options are. Hoping it has auto learn.

Given my problem, motor groans then get shut of after 5 or 10 seconds, but does turn in the right direction, is it a phase wire mismatch and they just need to be swapped around till its right? Or could the hall sensors not match the phase wires?

Follow the flow chart, go to the "start" and move to the box that represents what you are seeing (correct direction, rough rotation):

The company had me change the "motor phase classification coding setting, it is served as identification parameter" and reboot. I had actually changed it, but didn't reboot. So It's not really for identification purposes as the manual states.

So I;m good. And happy! lol
