Just wondering how would batteries look when going thru an airport type X-ray? I can't find any images on google. Will it raise any suspicion with the immigration? I am having the bmsbattery limnco 48v15ah. I'm not bringing it into the plane but my country scans everything when I come back either by land, air or sea. In this case I'm going on a field trip by sea and they will scan it when i get back. My bike doesnt have to go thru xray but every bag on it has to be removed and put into the machine. Technically my ebike is not legal but i don't think immigration has jurisdiction over vehicles bu I just don't want them to confiscate my bike/battery or them refer me to the vehicle authority.

Any ideas?

Don't be in a hurry. I know what I think it would look like on a scan. Even if they know it's a battery, it might be illegally large to bring onto the plane. Sure, that's how they send them from china, but they don't put thier name on it and ride along.

I'm confused? You're not flying on a plane but you need to pass airport security? USA allows no batteries in checked bags and limits wh of lithium cells allowed in passenger cabin of aircraft. 720wh is about double the limit provided on TSA website IIRC.

I often fly domestic USA with weird objects. Just last weekend I flew with a 9C DD motor laced in 20" wheel and security could care less but they scrutinized and swabbed my clothes bag. Go figure? Weird items generally get closer inspection and swabbed for explosive residue.

Of course, being a very frequent flyer with no connections to middle east region of the world puts me way, way down on the suspicion list. I can assure you they've seen it all and X-ray batteries is probably not that unusual. Have you searched laptop scan images? Plenty of lithium batteries go through X-ray everyday.

its not airport security, its an immigration checkpoint. They normally scan for weapons or drugs etc. when entering the country. my concern is A big black heathsrink wrap cube with ducktape does look like a box to hide drugs. . . or even a bomb with all the wires

Your thread title mentions "airport" thus my confusion, sorry...

It may seem logical to assume black shrink wrap and wires sticking out might draw suspicion and it probably will but I would seriously doubt you'll be prevented from entering or have the item confiscated as long as you are who you say you are....
