BBS02 - How do I make the ride more smooth? (re: too much power?)

I’ve just installed a BBS02 with a 52V battery and I used a programming cable to set the Low Voltage Cutoff to 43V (I couldn’t set 44V) and the Current Limit to 20A.

However, I think I might need to adjust the PAS levels because even PAS 1 is too powerful. Can anybody give me some suggestions?

Also, is there anything to make it smoother when I am pedaling slowly so the motor doesn’t engage, stop, and then engage again over and over?

If you have the programming cable you should also be able to program the different assist levels to your liking regarding amps and speed percentages.

Hmmm... Not that easy to change anymore from what I understand. Is this a new BBS02 or older? (CAN vs. UART) I'm not sure when the change was made?

I used this thread on E-S to get all the info on the firmware and programming for my BBS02b:
BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller
And used this to download and get it working:
GitHub - danielnilsson9/bbs-fw: Open source firmware for multiple electric bike motor controllers.
Got very good results and was able to fine tune my Bafang mid drive exactly to my liking.

I have the old UART BBS02 and it's as smooth as silk with the 48V batt. Funny how yours is over powered in PAS-1. Did you start from factory settings in the controller? Perhaps a reset to factory if not, and see how that goes. PAS-1 wouldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding @ 48V, I rarely use it.
