Hey BBSxx owners - have any of you guys mounted up a protective bash plate under the drive unit / front sprocket? Are there any plates that are commercially available, or am I going to be in the plate fabrication business? My property (along with pretty much the rest of NH) is a boulder field, and I know I'd never even consider riding my dirt bike without a good bash plate protecting the cradle and engine.

Thx

Really? Nobody??

OK - let me rephrase the question: Has anyone who runs a Bafang mid-drive ever sustained any damage due to smashing the exposed motor into something, like a log or a boulder?

No never!

I have not got a bash plate on the underside of my BBS02, but my riding is not too extreme. I can see the need for some sort of protection where the cables exit the controller though. I think all it needs is a piece of rubber or plastic to act as a guard, to stop the cables from getting snagged or crushed on extreme terrain.

The worst that could happen is replacement of the controller if the cables do get damaged.

I have... Bottomed out after a drop, hit a rick, impacted the controller housing, controller blew blue phase. unknown cause so far (aside from I bottomed out...)
