Brushless dual 6kw ALIEN Power system - electric longboard

The standard 15t pulley is about £10 but when u add the machining of the 10mm bore, 3 mm key way and the 3 mm grub screw it then costs £14.85.. I just rounded up for ease..

people have done it for stand up scooters... and said good things about it...

I have now all the parts ready for making a freewheel setup ... I found a small freewheel whitch fits in my driving pinion and I had to build this on my 85mm longboard wheels.

Another thing, I finished on sunday my second electroboard ... the light one !! Works very fine, only 3,96 Kg and a good range of min. 18km

My freewheel's weight is about 150g and it seems to be strong enough for driving.
 
yes I heard about it but for cruising they will be fine and this is the second build of balut not the first. The wheels drive very nice, today I make a ride through the town about 26km, many kick push and some times using the motor with soft accereration to get long batery usage. I use this wheels cause there very lightweight !! so the complete board has 3,96 Kg of weight and rides like a real skateboard - cruiser. Now the weather is perfect here and I can ride to work and everywhere with the board. :D

I only use belt for my city-streetboards

shure, only on the wheel pulley cause its bigger. I was happy to find a small freewheel that fits in my drive pulley. It's from germany (made in germany). I bought this here: http://www.gmn.de

the balut .... yes other wheels are more comfortable but the wheels driving fine for me.

the fact is, with my pocket streetboard I don't need a freewheel cause this board has a fantastic light motion with this 3m bold. it's easy to drive manual with kick push with that weight of 3,96Kg. I must drive it every day since I finished it :)
 
yes, u would loose electric braking, you need to be able to footbrake,
just from my experience riding the boosted, there is definite drag when coasting down a hill or pushing on the flats.

is the cogging effect greater on bigger diameter motors?

maybe better range with a freewheel setup ?

IMG_0506.jpgIMG_0504.jpgIMG_0499.jpgjust wonted to put up some pics of my build so far using Richard's mounts, i had a few things i had to play with and modify to get the hole thing going, but know i think im happy and ready to start with the electronics.
my motors where a bit smaller and the holes did not line up just right so i had to drill some new holes, and because my motors where smaller i could then angel the mounts a little bit up so know im only using 1/4 inch risers instead of 1/2. the loaded board im using is nice and smith when ride with the abec 11 wheels, big but it was what i was going for.
 
Nice looking build so far Jacob, what wheels did you go with 76mm or 83mm flywheels, I'm thinking 76mm would be the go for a topmount to prevent wheelbite.
 
That's looking very nice , it's so good to see the kit on some body else's board!! Brilliant
I am actually in the process of designing and making some motor mount plates for smaller motors as I've had so much request for them. ..and possibly a hub drive with removalable pulley wheels so you can gear up or down depending on the wheel/ motor size... Probably the next project .. So keep watching guys!!
Also I've got some great video if the board in action to upload!!!

I will interested to see how the smaller motor perform Jacob, I think you may have problems with the start up ( you will have to push off first ) and the motor will be running at a higher capacity for more of the time- my motors are running at about 40-50% most of the time- :D

Thanks guy, I'm using the 83mm wheels I don't get any bite with the 1/4 riser, I love to carve so I have some really nice bushings, and it's really turny, but I am going to try out some 73mm wheels to see how it goes, Richard I hope the motors will be fine I've tested with one motor going, it was good on flat slow on a small hill, and it likes one small push off, but that also helps with starting off smoother, but we will see how we go!!! Have you had any more feed back?
 
yes i've had a coupe of people giving good feedback but a lot of the kits have not arrived with customers yet- and they need to build them up i think..

btw, don't know if you try this yet,
there is a way to kind of 'cheat' to get around getting thrown backwards on hard acceleration, (other than leaning forward)
all you have to do is to get in a drop knee stance,
and grab the board's nose with your leading hand.
its like having a handlebar...
