My speedometer doesn't work on my cycle analyst V3 made it up to an old EM3EV 40amp controller back in the day when Paul was selling a direct drive 9C 135 mm
But he cut it out because everyone wears melting them I melted mine on the first day but it sure was fun I love that 9C @ 72 volt 40 amp.

Anyway my speedometer doesn't work and I want to check the small yellow wire that comes from the phase wires to see if it's getting current from the motor. Meaning if I put my multimeter on the yellow phase wire where do I ground it to and where do I set my multimeter if it will work for that ?
Oh the motor is a Mxus V3 4t

I tried a second cycle analyst speed 3 and it detected that there was no signal as I remember from yesterday.

When I made a CA harness for my controller, the speed signal input was from the hall sensors, not the phases. Might be different for different controllers.

Yeah I didn't want to open up my controller but I put the 72 volt battery on and the triangle battery fits and works fine on this track fuel SLR rim brakes I put XTR rim brakes with the hinge in it on the front I could use front disc brakes with the shock just use Regen and rim brakes on the rear I bought a hydraulic disc brake kit with electric handles.
I know nothing about disc brakes. Caveman !!! Don't make me mad.

I think you're right as it being a sense wire and not a phase wire. For the speedometer.
So I guess I can take the wire from the controller signal wire and go to the negative on the 5 Sense wires. ?
Am I looking for voltage or am I looking for ohms ?

Okay what if I take the one signal wire from my motor because I have Mxus 3,000 with two 6s plugs for sense wires or Hall sensors but I don't want to blow up this controller I've had it for 12 years and I love it Paul thank you from a

My harness didn’t involve opening the controller since you only need to do that if you are using a shunt inside the controller, and I’m using an external shunt. For the speed input, I just paralleled one of the hall sensor wires from the controller’s hall sensor connector to the yellow CA “Sp” conductor.

I want to run a yellow wire from the second six plug of all sensors and run it right to the yellow six pin on my CA plug. I put hot glue on it I'm going to have to dig that out.
