C80-100 cooling fan file for 3d printing

Hi everyone,

This is my first post in the forum. I've been reading a lot here since the last six months and learning a lot from the forum.
I had a gas go-ped when I was a kid, and that was one of the best "toys" I've ever had. I was thinking of building an electric go-ped for a while, but never took the idea seriously. But since I joined the forum I think about this every day, and now I started buying the stuff to build the go-ped.

The first thing I bought (and the only one so far) is a C80-100 130Kv motor from Alien Power. I've read other posts about adding a cooling fan in order to keep the motor temperature in a acceptable range and I decided to model a "impeller" style fan to be 3d printed.
Here is my idea:


I wish to share this files with everyone. Should I place it on Thingiverse or just attach it to the post?

Which direction are you planning to spin that, because it's effectiveness will definitely be directional? I'm not sure a mixed flow blade design like that will function properly without a collar covering the axial portion from the leading edges at the interface with the motor to about 50% of the axial length. If it works properly given the flow restriction of the stator, it should be more quiet yet pull more pressure than the simple straight bladed designs typically seen, but the mixed flow designs I've seen have a free air flow going to the inlet with an aerodynamic cone on the inlet for optimum operation. It's definitely an advanced modern blade design as long as it's the right tool for the job.

You still didn't mention which way you expected to spin it. I want you to understand the flow and why it works.

It should be clockwise looking for the impeller in front of the motor. So it should spin to the same direction the teeth ar pointing at.
Is it correct?

So, I just printed the fan. It fitted precisely.

I had some problems with this printing. Some layers delaminated, so I'll change some parameters and try again.
I'll also add the collar to the model.
All advise is appreciated. I'll post the validated files after.
 
Pat yourself on the back, because that's a quite advanced blade design, which should retain the most effective part of both blade types. If I was doing them and had the tools you have, the only changes I'd make are:
1. Overlap the "collar" a bit more onto the outrunner's bell. That's to be sure no air can shortcut and get in between the collar and the bell.
2. Shrink the length along the shaft. That's because width is a major concern on our bikes.

I'll extend the collar a little bit as you suggested and will generate a "short" version as well. I'll post the new files tomorrow.

I just wanted to bump this back up and say thanks.. I swiped the files off here and had a friend print out the latest version as-is... and it worked great.

this is printed at 100% fill with NO standoffs.. so theres some "hair" where the bridging didnt work perfectly and the holes needed cleanup. the hole issue wont happen at 80% fill or less, its from the heat of making a solid disc...if I printed it slower, the base holes would have also worked fine, but the bridging wouldnt have worked out...

This will be going on my 80-100 and on a rewound 80-85 in a goped scooter... build thread is here.

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad to see this model being printed around the globe! A great part of the knowledge I have nowadays is due to people sharing information through forums like this. So, I just wanted to give back some of what I've learned, and I feel really happy to retribute a little part to the community.
I'm the one to thank you for printing this model and I hope to post some new stuff soon, as I proceed with my goped project.
