Got bored, so I finally ... rebuilt a battery for the Ryobi 12V Auto-Hammer I picked up last year.
Replaced worn out cells with 10-20A Samsung cells.



Works great on ≤ 8cc nails ... and for severe pain if tip of finger (fingernail) inserted into impact socket.

Haha, cool thread! I got a hoover for my car. 3.6v nimh, 5$. As new, Black & Decker dust devil. it could barely hoover a grain of rice for 10 minutes. I put in 4x 18650 cells, an Ecig board for a 4.2 lion, and a USB plug. Ok it will take all day to charge the hoover, but it can hoover stones and it goes for more than 20 minutes, don't know how long yet, i'd say i can hoover my car for more than 30 minutes now have some drills too will refer to your infos.

1st test ...
Rebuilt 2 landscape timber flower beds.
Unscrewed 16 5" decking screws
30 minute delay
Screwed 16 5" decking screws
30 minute delay
Unscrewed 8 5" decking screws
Screwed 8 6" decking screws
Front metal housing became hot to touch (125 ºF ? medium-hot coffee cup temp)

Performed excellently, did shatter 1st bit - #2 phillip.
6" decking screws into pressure treated pine were no problem, but not recommended as continuous application.
Battery suffered no noticeable heat production!

Found a pile of B&D VersaPak tools in my back room.
3 cell 3.6V NiCd are all dead and some corroded.
3.6V LiCo 18650 should fit in "pak" nicely

Found ~3" saw

maybe more as I keep digging

2A Lithium chargers
Great for cordless power tool Lithiumized battery packs.
2A is optimal for 2p typical cells, recommended ≤ .5C charging rate.


8.5V (excessive?) (2s) and 12.6V (3s) < $5


16.8V (4s) and 21V (5s) < $5

Note: 8.4V 2s Lithium batteries seem safe and reliable powering 6V florescent lanterns (2 working models), but, use your own judgement.
Especially with lanterns, use of a cheap, low power BMS or PCB recommended to prevent excessive discharge.
