Hey I've really just been a lurker on here for a long time but have a fat bike (super 73 clone) I've upgraded the front and rear suspension and have 21700 cells on thier way for a battery build I've been planning.
I was originally planning on buying a 5kw qs205 or qs273 hub motor and using a a fardriver 96680 controller. I've been able to throw a bit more money into my build and have been really tempted to buy a cyc x1 pro gen 4 kit. My concern is ofcourse that the x12 controller recommends a maximum voltage battery of 72v.
I was wondering if there is any alternative opensourse firmware for the x12 that would allow a96v battery. I have more than enough space and now than enough cells coming to build my battery pack to be 26s 15p using custom copper nickel bus bars that are actually similar to what people have been seen using for surron battery builds.
So yeah I guess my question is still the x12 controller handle a 96v nominal battery pack or would I be able to use a different controller (bac 8000 high voltage unit). to control the cycvl x1 motor?
Really since my plans up until now has been to be using hub motor, and I have plenty of suave on the bike for my week designed though capacity 96v battery i would like to stock to the same battery but basically an looking for a5kw+ mid drive motor (bike is heavy) I've looked at other qs midrive motors that offer between 5-10kw or various sotion motors but I just don't have the technical knowledge to find a borlttom bracket that would fit the motor and easily connect it to my freewheel and pedals.
Really ideally it would be awesome if I could find cyc x1 type platform where I can fit a midrive motor of my choice (i like the way the motor chain connects to the bicycle freewheel).
I'm open to any suggestions and have a pretty wide budget for this build. If there's any similar midrive fat bike builds that I could be pointed toward I would be grateful.
I'm here to learn but have my battery cells and bus bars on the way and would like to be able to order motor and controller soon. Could a different motor be fitted onto the cyc x1 or stealth platforms? Could a fardriver 96680 be used to control the x1 pro motor?
Alloy of questions I know as I build I'll be happy to show photos/videos of my progress. I guess in just on a bit of time crunch because I don't want to start spot welding my cells in 96v formation if it simply won't work with the x1 motor. It I can't find another mid drive system to hook to my freewheel and pedals.
