Cycle Satiator Battery charger - Profile advice for battery

Hi guys!

I recently bought a Cycle Satiator battery charger and i'm a bit confused why the charger isn't charging my battery after choosing the default 36V Lith profile - 80% Charge - at 40.5 volts, 4 amps (also have tried manually setting the voltage to 36v), the cycle Satiator screen just stays "connect battery" even with the battery connected.

I've attached photos of the battery label and the original battery charger that comes came with the battery.

Additionally i've also attached photos of the origin battery charger's cable that goes into the battery (barrel connector type) and the cable i made myself that allows the cycle satiator XLR connector to barrel connector so i can connect the cycle satiator to my battery.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Does the original charger still work with it?

If not, the battery's BMS (if any) may have disconnected it from the outside world to protect you from a dramatic battery failure due to a cell-level problem.

If that's the case, we might be able to help you troubleshoot the battery pack.


If the original charger does work with it, try measuring the actual charger output voltage during the charging, and then you could see if the Satiator is actually set to the right voltage.

If it is, there is a way to force it to start charging: press and hold the lower button.



EDIT: Also, it looks like the center hole of your new plug on the CS may be larger in diameter than the one on your original charger. If that is the case, it will not touch the center pin on the battery's plug, and so teh CS can't connect to the battery.

Assuming that you got your connector pinout properly sorted, then you should recall section 5.1 of the user manual here, which surely you read no?

As amberwolf mentioned, you'll need to do a force start if your particular BMS circuit does not provide a voltage on the charger port for the Satiator to see and recognize that a pack has been detected.

I had a similar problem, and it turned out that the female connections on the cheap XLR plug in my adapter were slightly oversized, and not connecting with the male end from the Satiator. I pushed a needle into the sockets to bend the sleeves in a little, and it works. I'll be replacing it with a higher quality connector, but for now at least i know what the problem is.

So, if the suggestions above don't do it for you try testing the Xlr from the satiator, and then testing the output from your adaptor when it's connected. That should tell you if the adaptor is suspect.

+1, always look for the battery voltage at the charging port first when pack will not charge and charger is working.
