I must admit, I just rip down on the tiedowns with little thought to the stress being placed on the the compressed forks. Thanks for the tip, will definitely block it next time.

Probably didn't hurt the RSTs, but any decent fork with a cartridge will suffer. The other neat part is when you tied down with a block, you can synch the crap out of your tie downs and your machine wont budge an inch.

I just watched a movie on NetFlix titled, Charge, about electric motorcycles. I found it to be really interesting.

I've dropped mine through the crown as low as they will go and increased the rear preload quite a bit, I have the new progressive spring now it performs much better and seems heaps better balanced off road.

I've found my WBs forks a bit stiff. I am 90 kg.
Mexicanbatman, are you referring to a progressive spring for the DNM? Is this likely to already be on my bike and if not where can I get one.

Short answer and general rule of thumb, yes, most electric motors for ebike applications run anywhere from 75% up to 85% efficiency. Now WOT on a fairly steep hill climb (25% grade), probably dropping to around 50% because of excess heat loss. Let me clarify that that the numbers I am throwing out are generalizations. Other factors such as motor wind, controller, weight of rider and machine, even environmental factors can affect how efficient the setup will be. As far as my half throttle comment, its really half throttle and up but not WOT. Go too slow on an ebike and efficiency drops as well. I am told this is because of switching losses in the controller. I am not technically savvy enough to explain the "why it does this", maybe one of the other guys can help explain and clarify

I noticed this when I was taking my time on a 55 km ride...I hit 12 ah way too early. .. But when I went 40 km + I was using almost the same watts (700 to 900 while pedaling).

Thanks Rick, the reason I ask was because last night while watching the movie Charge, someone mentioned their race bike was something like 97% efficient, while a typical gas bike was maybe 35%.

How come Stealth doesn't have any moto clothing. I'd like a Stealth jacket. I don't think riding around in my Harley jacket is going to cut it. Of course a Stealth jacket can't be made of leather, it will have to be some kind of modern synthetic stuff. I want a red one with an electric blue Stealth thunder bolt and the words Stealth Bomber on the back.

+1, I would wear a Stealth Bomber jacket. When I say Bomber, I don't mean name it after my bike, I mean like the Bomber jackets WWII guys wore on bombing missions. Wait a minute, that would be perfect for Stealth to do. Its ironic that Harley Davidson is known for their motorcycles, but they make more money off their products' line than bike sales.

Back in my motorhead dayz, internally combusted engines varied from 22-28% efficiency. The Rotary engine was over 30%. I guess those numbers are up with better fuel efficiency. But 97%, that seems optimistic. Maybe they meant the motor was 97% efficient at the drive shaft with no load on it? Even direct drive from countershaft to wheel via chain would loose 2-3% with parasitic drag. If going through a transmission, figure at least 7%. Its like HP ratings for cars/trucks/motorcycles. You have engine crank HP, and then at the wheel HP which is always lower than measured at the crank due to parasitic drag.

One of my customers used to be a local Harley shop here in Dallas. They're one of the highest volume shops in the country. The shop is basically divided between the front and back. The back is the repair shop, and the front is like a department store. The owner told me that on a typical Saturday they did about $200,000 in sales of chrome accessory's, clothing, chain drive wallets, flashlights, beer mugs, and shot glasses. And don't forget the do rags, and ride to live, live to ride stickers. That figure didn't include new and used bike sales, or repair work on customer bikes. That was before the crash though, I doubt they're doing that well now.

Besides that, a nice thing about the Stealth is you can replace just about every part, many times over. Except the pedal transmission, Bombers are kind of locked in there. No worry's though.

I think something like this, with custom patches. Imagine a big patch at the top that says Stealth, and at the bottom that says Bomber. Joe Rocket has some other jackets that look like they'd work well too.

I'll make my own if I have to, but I think Stealth is missing out on some serous marketing here. If they offered a nice riding jacket how many of us would not buy one? I'm guessing almost everyone would.

Right now I wear a 661 DH spinal and chest vest, be great to have built in protection and perhaps some reflection. The spinal protection would make whatever is on the outside feel a lot lighter. My back pack right now is around 45 lbs with the charger, my computer and a bunch of other things I have in there. But it feels really light with my protection underneath.

In some of the footage of the http://www.hunterevfestival.net/, you can see me wearing my Collins Aqua jacket, which fits the profile for some of the things you've described here, including:
-inbuilt CE protection
-reflective detailing

More details at http://www.collinsleathers.com/page5.html to get a clearer idea of what they look like. Whilst its well vented, it also highlights the difference between a M/C jacket and something you can be active in/sweat in. I chose it for the race because that was on bitumen. It's not something I'd opt to try and do off-road riding in, just too bulky/hot. I'd be interested to hear how others approach their riding apparel before taking too many steps though.

Great photo! That jacket looks awesome. In weather 0 to 8 degrees I'm fine with the 661 vest, gform elbow pads, a very thin hoody and a North Face wind breaker. What was the weather like when that photo was taken?
