E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

I should rent myself out for design consulting, and give you guys a chance to catch up to me. It can get lonely at the top.

That's terrible, just terrible. We have one more nice day, and then it's going to be in 30s and 40s for a few days. Then 60s for while. That's Texas weather.

We were 71 yesterday, almost set a state record. I went for a 16 mile ride. It was great.

Super stoked...just met up with Morati and picked up the 18 inch MC wheel with the Shinko SR 241. Can't wait to put this on my Bomber, especially after breaking 4 spokes yesterday and got brutal wobbles going over a bridge overpass with 40 cars breathing down my back. Honestly, the stock rim is the worst rim ever (on my third one, with this last one being the revised Stealth version with smaller cutouts). I have no idea how all of us started riding our bikes with the stock setup(front shocks, rims, rear tire, Hal connector, Gator brakes, rotors, rims, side panels, seat....). It's 100% dangerous and not carefully tested. When I see all of the shiny new Stealths on their website, I'm only focused on the frame and the new CA screen. Everything else needs to be replaced with your own selection of components. That being said, my Bomber is on it's way to being a beast. Next on the wishlist one of Allex's 35ah batteries.

I'm pretty sure, about now somebody at the Stealth factory is looking at my rear fender, and kicking themselves for not thinking of it first.

That's part of the beauty of it though, picking all the components yourself.

I don't know where you're getting this dangerous from. My bike seems very safe. Do you think there's any possibility you're abusing your wheels? Mine aren't falling off.

Anything can be made better though, how much do you want to spend?

I got to ride 27 miles today. It was glorious compared to the weather we've been having. One more day, and then back in the tank for a while. Of course around here if it gets below 60 degrees, everyone's freezing to death.

True but I wish someone told me from the get go...replace everything because your life is at risk. I ride hard and a lot of distance 5 days of the week but I haven't even begun with the heavy off road stuff I want to do because I don't trust the stock components.

I think Stealth should go with all Shimano Zees or Saints for brakes, levers and Shimano Ice Tech Rotors. The difference is night and day to be honest. The rest I suppose may be a matter of preference but a stronger rim is necessity even if the MC route isn't an option.

Granted, I'm 204 lbs and my backpack is 50 lbs and I ride 70 to 200 km per day for 5 days of the week with 30% off road and the rest pot holed roads. But maybe Rix and myself should be the base use case for durability due to our heavier weight.

I haven't had any trouble with my rims, but I think the stock rims could be better. I want 2" wide 24" rims.

I got you beat big time Proper in the weight department, even with your 50 pound pack on add a couple. I weigh between 265 and 270 with my camel back with tools and 6 pounds of water in my 100 oz camel back bladder. I know why you are up-grading your components, but I have never had a failure from anything. Yah, my seat frame broke on the Bomber, which Stealth replaced and never had any issues since, and haven't broken it yet on the Fighter, but nothing else has failed me ever, except the stock rear wheel and tire. I was pinched flatting on the Bomber a couple of times a week before going to the MC tire option. YOu can see from some of my vidoes why though with the rock gardens I frequent. The Gators on the Bomber, even though not refinded compared to the MTs, are still working strong. Cryogenically stressed releived the Bombers Vboxx crank arms, they are a little more springy now and don't bend as easy from crash. My fighter is bone stock except the rear wheel/rim/tire combo and the battery. I also put shorter crank arms on it, but that was for personal preference as the stock 170s are still fine and can be remounted at any time. The controller has been reprogrammed with some copper and solder buttering on the shunt. But component wise, everything else is bone stock and holding up to my abuse just fine. I think you will like the MC wheel, alot more durable, long lasting, and better off road than any MTB tire out there. Let us know your impression.

Maybe because my Stealth is #174 I'm experienced problems every week since I purchased it in 2013. You probably remember my list of constant issues and I've grown accustomed to some pretty dicey situations. However this last issue yesterday nearly got me killed with the rear wheel wobble after four spokes broke and likely another cracked rim (which leads to the axel splitting even with the axel lock).

I'm hoping the wheel you built for Morati will give me way more confidence. The RST front shocks are complete trash but they still could take some abuse. After one day, my new/used Fox 40s are dead on arrival. I've become accustomed to check my bike thoroughly every day which most motorcyclists do out of pride...but sometimes I just wish my bike wouldn't mess up at the worst times possible.

Thought I would replace the stock grips now, Ordered a couple of LizardSkins and was surprised that the stock one was much shorter. I thought every grip had the same size. This means that I have to push my brake and throttle even more to the centre. What do you guys replace the stock ones with?

These are the one I use, Ergon 1. I find these much much more comfortable than the stock ones, or any round ones. They give you better wrist supports and better shock absorption.

These two I have powder coated black.

This is what they look like stock.

I don't know what the actual name is for our grips, but the slang term name is "halfpipe shift grips". I ordered some SRAM units a while back. Haven't seen them since I moved into my house last September. My dad bought some regular length screw lock MTB grips like the ones you have, cut and shortened the tube and welded the thing back together. Works great, but a lot of work if you ask me. The life of being retired, must be nice.

stritzky out Whataburgered me and Allex in the grips department. Those Ergon grips are going to be my next grips. They look great with the black power coat too.

When ordering grips for a Bomber you have to order grips for twist shift. 90 to 100 mm fits best.

My Cane Creek grips turned out to be crappy crap. They're too small diameter, and the Skinks cut into your hand. They're about the worst grips I've ever had. Of course they wear like iron, and I bought two pairs.

Allex, If that is a grip with end clamps, then it's easy to trim it and make the fixed section as long as needed.

I go a different style. I like more twist grip and the usual right side front brake setup. Just the usual dirt bike setup.

Not a great photo, but you can see it here.

Thx, is that DNM fork? How is it compared to RST?

Yah Emmet, I was wondering the same thing? So how is it? On another note, weather has been all over the place, one day we saw 71F and then the next it was 26F, got the DC1 cold weather prompt on the 26F ride. Wasn't an issue, unlike me freezing my ass off riding with gloves, short sleeve shirt, and sweat pants, after a couple of miles, turned myself around and went home.

Ive replaced mine with regular non locking grips. the Oury soft grips Love them... I cut them to fit. I like soft grips and wanted to keep it round due to the throttle. In the pics you will see that the interior lock for the grip is gone. I removed them. The only reason why I kept the outside ones was for bar end protection. I don't get the locking grips at all...I use regular grips and some safety wire I do that for all of my bikes. Never needed glue or locks. Works great. For the bomber I didn't safety wire them. They don't rotate at all.

The DNM fork in stock form is not good. It has no comp damping and very stiff reb damping. Crazy. Also too much spring preload with the adjuster full out. When modified it can work extremely well and becomes far superior and absolutely no comparison to my 2014 R1 fork. Even after I tried to fix the R1.
