eBike BoostPack Range Extender

Hi All,

Just thought I would share this here in case anyone is interested, I designed and made this to give me a range and power boost for my 72v CYC X1 Pro, but can be used with any eBike setup that has 18/36/72v battery, but at this point, not sure if the 54v Dewalt packs will fit as I don't have any.

Also, the standard 8ah Dewalt packs are running Samsung 21700 40T in a 5S2P configuration so this BoostPack running in a 72v configuration with the 8ah packs is able to push 70amp continuously, I also have some of the new Tabless packs, but I need to dismantle one and see what cells are inside.

Interesting...... You wear it?!!!
There are a number of backpack battery builds aroudn the the forums, some for bicycles, some for scooters, at least one for an esk8.
 
I originally was going to have all of the battery in a backpack, but for off road riding, it puts to much of the weight to high up, so I opted to supplement the pack on the bike, I've finished designing mounts now so I can use the same batteries on the bike as well, will be a spread of 8 x 8ah packs, giving me 20S4P and then the backpack would bring me up to 20S6P if I need it.

I rode a bicycle to school every day, with a heavy backpack full of books etc on my back.
My feeling is that having the weight move with your body weight while leaning/turning combined with moving your weight back and forth and the instinctive 'active suspension' that is you standing on your pedals is the superior way to do it.

eg: Bunny hop a pavement: (BMX parlance)
You are going to have far more success with a light bike and the momentum of the backpack helping rather than hindering the maneuver.

I'm interested to hear from others that have tried both. especially in off road trail riding situations.
 
Nice design! I made a range extender for EGO 56V (really 52V) batteries, basically a 3D printable battery socket. Alternatively you can harvest a socket from a broken power tool. The EGO batteries are really good and come in sizes up to 10 Ah, IIRC. I have run both TSDZ2 and CYC Photon on the 5 Ah version and they work great.
