Hi all,
I've just seen this:

for the ones who understand german.. how should I put it, It sucks.. it sucks hell to see those stupid "brainfucked brats"(<-- this is of course my own and only personal opinion) taking parts for "security" and orient everything to prepare a very good "insurance" rampage in the next years...
Gruß,
H.

The talking head at 0:50 is "Leiter Unfallforschung der versicherer" watt translates as "Head of Research of the accident insurers" so yah, looks like goofy shit being put out by insurance companies feeling left out w/no mandatory insurance for ebikers...

Title for this vid on Youtube reads "Crash tests show high risk of accidents by electric bicycles" and caption reads roughly "Electrically assisted bicycles (Pedelecs) in Germany are in vogue. Manufaccturers are pleased with double-digit growth rates and cyclists built on the momentum. However, this development poses threats, according to the research of the accident insurers (UDV)."

I noticed the crash test dummies are not wearing helmets

Perhaps they should throw some dummies down some stairs and go after mandatory stairs insurance for pedestrians...

Yeah, on the video picture it's clearly written "dekra insurance research center". They have mixed some pedelec users and ebikes user, removing the helmets on both case in order to increase the "terror effect" daamn I really hate this :(

Clearly the car parked carelessly in the testing area was the real hazzard... how can these crash test dummies be so blind??? oooh... wait a sec... never mind

I crashed a hundred times in my life on bikes and motorcycles, and still have all my head and bones. Then, I never crashed like a dummy. I think that they should charge an extra insurance fee for dummies.

I always suspected that bicycles would crash when ridden by a brainless crash test dummy. Now I know for sure!

As for riding straight into parked cars, I did that exactly once. I was 4 years old, and Dad had just shoved me right in the direction of one. Thanks Dad!

Btw, I saw no sparks, no fire, no danger in any way related to the electric parts of the bike.

I do see posts where guys talk about " I'll have the power to get out of the way". I tend to think, " I'll be behind that stupid F---er in that car, not in front of him. I never put my self in the way willingly."

I'm confused...wtf was that first test supposed to be? All it looks like they proved is that if you accelerate a bicycle up to speed without a rider and let go of it, it will fall over...which I kinda already knew...

Wow.

I've seen a runner looking over his shoulder run right into a car as well, and at a pretty good pace. Hurt himself, and damaged the car.

I vote for jogging shoe insurance to go with the ebike insurance and stair insurance.

Or we could go with negative IQ coefficient insurance, where the lower your IQ, the more insurance you're required to have, so when you do the stupid things that the test shows you must be inclined to do, at least you're insured for them.

This kind of "test" is really really stupid. :(

As the red neck comics quip, " you can't fix stupid"

That's a dammmmm good idea to insure stupid. My car insurance rates might go way down, and I can think of a few folks who's insurance should double. Oh, wait a min, most of those guys drive around witn no licence or insurance after that 10th DUI already. So I get to pay for thier uninsured status anyway.

This video shows how fear can fund some stupid tests though. I suppose they may have been making some point about how ebikes should be limited to slow speeds rather than allowing 20 mph like the USA.

Cripes, do they think nobody can pedal faster than 20 KPH? I suggest they tune in to the Paris-Roubaix race next week and get educated how fast normal bikes are.
