Hi there everyone, well i'm new to riding any kind of skateboard, i have a 1km commute from carpark to uni and decided to buy a longboard. And i've been loving it!
Have been riding for a few months now so quite confident in riding, but, the initial plan was to make it electric, so now the fun stuff begins.
I have read quite a lot on here, and so need to thank the people who put in time, effort and money into researching what works etc. I think i have come up with a good list of parts, and if you do have any input onto perhaps how i can do things better, please fell free to because at this stage, i haven't made the order yet (waiting for parts to be in stock here in Aus).
- The board; it's just a cheapy. A drop down and drop through deck. Sits really low to ground, which is good for me, becuase i'm rather tall. However does mean motor will be mounted out back.
- The motor; Turnigy SK3 190kv.
- ESC; Hobbyking YEP 150A (2~6S) SBEC Brushless Speed Controller. Not entirely sure if this is suitable, perhaps some input?
- Battery; turnigy 6s, 5000mAh, 30c.
- Gearing; small = 15t, large = 40t.
- Wheels; at this stage 70mm. However, they do not have the nice holes in the hub like i see abec 11 flywheels do. So would also like to upgrade these to a larger wheel, will need to source something from somewhere.
- Mount; i do a fair bit of fabrication and tig welding, so will make my own.
- Controller; most likely a cheapy off ebay, and perhaps mod it in the future to be compact.
Well if you think i have forgotten anything, or need to change something, please let me know. I'm designing it as a cruising board, not looking for high speed, and doesn't need a huge range. However, i did want it to have plenty of torque for hills etc. And looking at some members stats from their battery size, 5000mAh should give me a decent range for riding by the beach etc. Stay tuned for more!
