Hi everyone, this is my first post here on endless-sphere!

I was thinking about creating a website/blog about DIY electric longboards/skateboards etc. to make it easier for beginners to get into this topic. I am a beginner myself. I think this is a good thing though, we will see :) I have not built an electric longboard yet but I plan to and creating this website will be part of the process. I must say there is a lot of knowledge out there and even though I like communicating through forums a lot, I think it is kind of a hassle to extract all the essential information out of every thread. So I want to make this easier for beginners.

Even though I will make this website in German language in the beginning (I do not think my English is good enough to create some kind of an educational website) I plan on translating it sometime in the future. That’s why I was already thinking about a domain name in English. Maybe you guys can help me out here, since most of you have English as their native language I guess?! I know it probably is not important at all but I am kind of a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like that.

I was thinking about using the word “coasting” in the domain. As I understand coasting is for example riding a longboard without pushing, right? (I think there is no German word for that :| Is this a word one could associate with electronic longboards? Do you think a domain name like infinite-coasting.com could be a good fit?

Hi Guy welcome to the forum

Why make a new website?
All the information is here.. the elementary tutorials (there are 2 that I can think off.. Torque and the one stickied on the board index).., the developments are also included .. the higher end stuff/protortypes is also here..
Why replicate everything and dilute the information available.

Having all the info in a single place.. makes people who have built 2+ boards help those who have built none... in a website only for begginers who is going to help out? newbies reinventing the wheel?

Id suggest maybe translating some of the important topics into German so they could benefit from the knowledgebase.

there are multiple posts in this forum for beginners. tons of reading materials. i read them all but still lack confidence to build an eboard myself.
if you really want to contribute something new, post a video. here's a ridiculously thorough video of a guy making an easy mount for Google Cardboard. he took the effort to record the video from his perspective so there's no way you can mess up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_tDXYa9ti4

so once you got a video making an eboard from scratch, let us know. and please dont post a video with annoying music. the enertion guy made an almost perfect video of him assembling his products. i just couldnt stand the loud music blasting every minute or two.

sorry, i dont have any idea for a domain name atm.

You can checkout the main tutorial file first thing on this page.

I also have one i wrote here - http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=56375

I have a few things on my website too. I plan on having more but haven't got to it yet.

thanks for the Input guys! I know all the Information is here in the forum and it is a great place to learn from each other. And yeah the elementary tutorials are awesome (Thanks for that by the way). But I guess there are a lot of people out there who do not know about this forum or do not even really know what a forum is and how it works (Yes these people exist :D). For example, I first heard of electric longboards like 2 years ago and did some google searches here and there to get to know more about the topic, but only a few weeks ago I got to know this forum.

Also I am thinking of creating different stuff like comparison tables for ESCs, Motors, commercial eboards etc. with all the specs. Maybe even create some kind of a calculator where you can put in what range, Speed you want your lonboard to have and the calculator suggests components..Stuff which you cannot easily implement in a forum post. These are just some ideas I have in my mind. I do not know if it would make sense to build stuff like that..The video thing is also great, when I am really starting to build my board I plan on documenting in a lot detail.

Basically I always wanted to create a Website about something I am passionate about and I think with electric lonboards I finally found something, so I guess I will just create something and maybe it’s helpful for someone or maybe it only helps myself :) Of course I would reference a lot to this forum.
