Optimized-WP_20170402_12_19_27_Pro (3).jpgHere is my first electric bike. It was a prototype. I built it to get familiar with electric bikes. I did not know how powerful 36v 500W DD motor would be, and I did not want to go straight for a 48V 1000W motor, so that is where I started. It works quite well but I needed more power for the hilly place I live in. So now I am building a 48V 1000W DD bike with disc brakes. I have tried to sell my current bike, but have had no luck, so I might use it to experiment with geared motors. I will post a photo of the next bike when it is done.

Optimized-WP_20170418_13_37_11_Pro.jpgI already have the new 48V 1000W motor for the next build. Also, I have the torque arms, remote control taillight, and sprocket removal tool for removing the rear cassette.

The motor of this bike can run over 750 Watts due to the controller being a 36V 22A +/- 1A. I am thinking of swapping the DD motor for a geared Bafang Motor

This is the motor I will be putting on the bike after I am done with the next one.

You can overvolt DD"s quite nicely. Latest controllers are quite tolerable too.
I have been running my 500W 2807 36V DD-sets on 54V five years now. Takes in just over 1000W. DD"s are extremely reliable if you stay on reasonable power and avoid rain rides.
Don"t put controller inside that bag, unless you really really have to. It needs cooling.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of trying to mount it under the rack or on the water bottle mount. I think I will work on that today. Then I could do something productive today since I don't work today.
