Hi everybody, I'd like to share my semi-custom build. Almost everything except the frame is somewhat custom. It's my daily commuter vehicle, 15 km both ways on average. I have more than 10,000 km's on it now. Used in all weather and road conditions you can think of, trail, mountainous, rough asphalt and gravel (mainly), snow, ice, mud. Does very well overall and has been serving me fine.
Mid motor: Bafang BBSHD 1000W, Eggrider display, half-twist throttle, 52V triangle 20Ah battery
Hub motor: Bafang 750w, 500C display, thumb throttle, 48V 14Ah battery hidden inside frame
Can ride with one for regular riding or both for hard acceleration, usually to match the city traffic speed for safety, or to avoid traffic altogether. Prefer pedaling to keep in good shape whenever suitable - 50 kg weight helps . Have done up to 60km/hr with added pedaling. 52-tooth chain ring enables me to keep at it at high speeds.
Hydraulic disc brakes, 20''x4 tires, 9 speed rear derailleur, full suspension, front shock is lockable for clean asphalt riding. Added 12V and 5V converters for charging stuff, and recording continuous GoPro videos. Also added a loud motorcycle horn to be taken more seriously by jaywalkers and cars alike.
Can haul very heavy cargo when needed, the frame is absurdly rigid and wheels are very durable (heavy too though) Folding frame (and handlebar) helps carry it up to my 10th floor apartment with the unusually small elevator of my building, otherwise I'd have to leave it downstairs at the entrance and worry about theft all the time. Also two of these fit in the back of a hatchback when folded, so trail and mountain trips are easy to organize.
Lemme know what you think. Cheers!
