Thanks for the offer, but I bought 5 of them at the time so have a few spare :D
Hehe, incase you thought I was serious I was only joking (given how cheap they are it's not worth the cost of domestic postage)

Funny enough, I replaced the cable with an abrasion resistant polyurethane one and changed the connectors to Switchcraft IP68 (waterproof) which are ~10x the price of the throttle
Have you had issues with water ? I've never bothered with mine and they still seem fine even though half end up caked in mud and grime. I cable tie a piece of old inner tube over joints/connectors on my commuter and this seems to suffice for reliablity.

See, if you had of just bought that one to start with instead of wasting $2 on that other one it'd still be working perfectly :p
It's a shame there's not a bigger range of quality throttles. From what I've seen it's either cheap plasticy chinese ones, or the notchy feeling maguras which I'm not totally sold on (barring something totally custom like jozzers above)

I was seriously injured by a sudden WOT incident years ago. Mine was caused by a shorted controller, but same result.
Even with a handlebar mounted kill switch I was unable to hit the switch in time.
Nasty, had another WOT fail once from an undisclosed short. I had a kill switch hooked to the brakes, which should have had the same effect but what ever the short was caused the ebrakes to not work too. The good news was I had my gopro recording at the time, camera facing me and had a novelty helmet on

Love the helmet!

Chinese hall effect throttles are not all created equal. I've seen a few that were pretty decently built and some that were real junk. I'll have to find the name on one of the better ones.

Nope, just being paranoid. The charging plug corroded and shorted twice. Fitted a blanking plug and it's been fine ever since. I also conformal-coated both the controller and the BMS PCBs.

Cool video, I wish I had the camera on yesterday - everyone is back at work, had so many near misses

Here some entertainment for you all

No music, still working on it..
Filmed over a few month period a couple of years back. Camera only catches 10% of the incidents.
I now ride on the bike path.

A couple of those incidents would have left a healthy dent in their door from my foot! I ride very aggressively due to this very same crap!

Funny, I ride very defensively because of this crap.

Haha so true. Some ended up with dents, some without a mirror.
I found a great solution though - avoid the roads. Much more relaxing 8)

Nice compilation. Good to know that sort of thing isn't localised to up this way.
You ride like me, power towards cars and swerve at the last second so they can see what douches they've been in pulling out. My missus abuses me because I drive the same way, only when I accelerate towards them with 300kw under the bonnet it usually leaves a very small gap and them with a scared look of "brace for impact"

HUGE-1 wasn't kidding. haha

Where's the audio of your exchanges with the VE commodore and impreza drivers you chased ? Too threatening for youtube with your bond villian accent ?

I'm going to fit a rear camera to my commuter bike shortly, so many times I've had cars move right over on me like a few did in your clip. I'll feel better about having a piece of them if there's a video to back it up when they proceed to run me over :p

Yeah, the audio is muted as there might be kids watching
Silver Commodore - I knocked on his window demanding an explanation, he ignored me so I took his mirror off. If he would've apologise he would've kept the mirror
Blue Impreza - I asked him if he saw me coming, he said 'no'. I told him to look out next time, he said he WAS looking out (as can be heard on the video). He did sound genuine and shaken, so I just left.

I found it bad enough just trying to drive in Melbourne!

I'm glad I live somewhere where traffic is just the odd camper van pottering along!

Second puncture with Schwalbe Marathon Supremes last night. The first was a pinch-flat from jumping off a retaining wall nearly a year ago (12,000km)
This time it was a wood chip in the sidewall  \

How the hell does that happen??

Damn, that's some strong wood chip!
Must come from the same type of tree that this chair was made from

I recently set up my wife's cargo bike with a 600W ezee. Thing is a bit unstable at WOT, but it needs a fair bit of poke to get it up to 15kph with three kids up front.

The thing is it has me thinking about the thumb throttle WOT issue. That's at least one episode for each of us (my last cost me a rebuild on the gearbox in my Aprilia ebike mid-last year. Pricey.)

So I have been thinking of a second pushbutton in line with the throttle, on the other grip. Thoughts? I am worried about the kdis grabbing a handful of throttle while stopped/standing up in the front.

There is a real opening for a quality throttle methinks.

How about a normally active (normally closed) e-brake button?

Oh man. Its midnight and i am trying not to lol and yell with the rest of the house asleep.

Huge1 takes the cake. And the dog taking a crap. Classic. Kinda hoped the fluffy dog at the end got it.
What a compendium of dickheads....

Another little adventure tonight: 2ks from work suddenly lost power. The -ve lead out of the controller simply snapped off

Had to pull the controller apart, strip the lead and reconnect it again.

Both nights there were a few people stopping and offering help :D

Had awesome fun racing the commuter against other ebikes and a gravel-spitting, tyre-ripping yellow trike

Thanks t3sla for the photo

Minor refinements:
Marzocchi DJ fork bought from MarkAW who bought it from voicecoils. Full service and change of springs transformed the fork.
45mm stem and 680mm bars for more control
2.5" Maxxis Hookworm tyres

I have been seriously considering buy one of those jet fighter helmets, are they any good for ebiking? Melb winter is coming and I have been thinking of cutting down wind on ears factor etc.

Also I think I am going to relocate my power switch from back of seat post to top of frame tube.

I'm going to modify an old fullface helmet by cutting the chin off. Full face draws too much attention. MX goggles are good too. Like this morning..

watching the "downsides of being a cyclist" made me think of how it would be nice to have a horn on an e bike. like one of those compressed air horns. even if you don't have time to hit it before someone tries to cut you off, it would definitely be fun to lay on the horn once they do. it is ridiculous how drivers can be so unaware of what is going on around them...
