Gaussmeters

I see that you can get a 0.32mm depth transverse probe (T3-0303M) to use with the LZ-610H Teslameter from Dexing Magnet. That would fit in the smallest airgap we're likely to encounter.....

I have the cheap ebay unit. Repeatable, easy to use, cheap. Gets me in the ballpark and allows for assessment of magnet grade.

I wonder if a guy could use a device like this to calibrate a crude measuring device that would use a cheap sensor.

If anyone is interested I have a Bell Model 9640 Gaussmeter with STB4-0404 probe that could be made available after the first of the year (2014). Price would likely be around $700 US. If interested let me know and we can work something out. It calibrated within better than 5% at 1T about 2 years ago.
