i think i can guess which story that is... they get demanding, don't they!

another stop and chat by a guy who's seen me a lot apparently.

damn if it doesn't sound like my fork is about to fall off after that, huh?

had to leave early this morning, and since it's usually quiet at that hour, i thought i might have a shot at beating my recorded best of 10min for the 5.1mi commute.

the lights didn't go my way however. in fact i hit most of them, but managed to beat my record anyway...

nothing riveting. short clinic on red light running.

You seem extra pissed on the return commute with your sporadic turns and what not. Just wanted to get home on a Friday and burn the paycheck? :D
Is it me or is your fork sounding a little better?

You have the gopro situated perfectly IMHO. If you look closely in the corner, you'll see him pedaling. If you were a bystander that happened to be there at the same commute time you'd be scratching your head thinking how the hell he's bicycling so freakin' fast

Your using a Schlumpf speed drive am I correct :?:

You haven't updated your thread in a while. :| . I hope you are still in good health and commuting like a maniac? :D
Whats the plan with the 4080? I honestly can't wait until you get that motor. You will love it, I guarantee it.

I remember seeing a video of you jumping the stairs in slow mo and the way your tire bounced 3 times as it settled to the ground and then Rix is always saying to up the rebound dampening and a light bulb went on.

you should increase your rebound dampening.

jeez, trackmarks, can't a guy take his gopro to have some time with his family?

just kiddin..... been a bit busy lately. here's a your fix:

just pinged dude about the 4080. hopefully it'll arrive this year.

thanks, bill. unfortunately now my labels are gone on my forks/shock, so i'll have to research how to do that!

ah here's a start: To The Point - Rebound Damping now to find the guide...

man it looks like your getting really comfortable on that bike. pushing the limits of that hookworm on the front by the look and sound its verging on understeering a couple times, but you play it well and dont loose controll, to be honest i think you would be better with crazy bob on the front. just my opinion.
also the green light change at 1:02 , i love when that happenes... roll up to the lights, GREEN boom we're away :D

crazy bob would be nice for the few times i venture off road (and perhaps for wet days), cause i have to compensate a lot w/ the hookworms, but i'd doubt crazy bobs are better on the street.
IMG_3907.jpg

the slicker the better for street, no? but the texture of the hookworms make 'em grippy too..
2988-6653-main-hookworm_bmx-copy-87.jpg

by the same token, i find i've got much better grip on the dh pedals with my work shoes than with treaded running shoes!

with the shoes, yeah i say my Mac work boots are actually better tha my new balance sneakers.

the compound of the crazy bob is ORC off road racing compound. so its soft and sticky, the hook worm is vary hard and on my tyre held the tread prety well even after many dirt burn outs and skids. I totally agree with your point of view with more rubber toughing the ground the better accept on loose or wet surface. still, just saying if you get a chance, order one and i think you may like it. its only $25 . it would certainly help on the grass strips and dirt/gravel bits around the place.

Holy crap that stairway at the end of the vid looked 300 ft up! :D

Hi, Greg , I like to follow your epic rides, but unfortunaly, It seems that I have an issue with posts subscriptions, after a while (too many subscriptions ?) I don't receive anymore the notification email of a new post...I search allround the forum and I could not find a solution...so I ask to your large audience how to solve it and being able to receive the mail again...

GOOD ONE @ 0:31 :D

i stop receiving notifications if i don't hit the page after a notification. for example, if i get an email that the thread's been updated, but i don't hit, than i WON'T get more notifications UNTIL i hit the page, and after that, notifications will resume with further updates.

it took me years to understand this! haha..

if something else is going on, i have no idea... love to hear from a mod if there is other subscription behavior of note.

in other news, my hs4080 is soon to arrive. i just called to check and was asked how i'd like it laced... i'd thought it was going to be laced, so was taken aback. the price for lacing including rim and spokes is only $75, and they can dish it too! it's the xlyte double-walled rim and i can choose 24" or 26".

i was thinking it'd arrive laced in 26 and then if i hated it i'd relace in MC wheel....

but those stealths w/ 24" duros? look pretty sweet.

comments? suggestions?

Knew the price you told me they gave you was a little off....... Well, at least you caught them before they shipped out the bare motor. It makes it even more plug and play with a rim instead of waiting a day or two for the LBS to lace her up.
Are you going to up the battery current when you get the motor or is the mine-e maxed out already?

lol. i'm the lbs and getting the parts will take a month. ordering spokes for rims gives me the willies.

mini-e is maxed! 6kw max, 3.5kw continuous.

i got this motor so it doesn't overheat in 5 minutes, and cause hyena said something good about them once? i can't remember! :p

re the size question again, can anyone recommend a 24" x 2.75 tire for mostly street? i might be able to fit a 3" not sure.

Im running 24x3 duros and love em. Very PHAT, happy at very low pressure, look awesome! They are 74mm across though, check your rear clearence.....

yeah greg, My phoenix is here HS4065 rewinded , temp mods ...soon on my thread... :D :D

for the wheel size...: I got the 4065@20s which topspeed @59kph something like 2500W or 3000 in 24" rim with HALO contra 24x3.

I would say it depends if you're running 20s or 24s ...(I think you're in 20S like me...(16Ah for me)) and the top speed you wanna reach...
I think Hyena used an HS4065 never a 4080 too so I would say you'll get 20% more speed on the 4080 @20S so 71kph with 24" rim (actually the 24x3 HALO contra make it a 25.6" outside diameter (hookworms/crazy boobs exist in 24" too...If that top speed is enough I would recommand going in 24" for the torque and if you wana go faster you can add a 5s (or 4s later ?)

I f you wanna reach the 80kph@20S you should take 26" I think...hope it help

PS: I would not recomman the HALO contra in urban as the gum is very tender...and @low pressure I broke the valve because of too much torque @8Kw peak 8) and I confirm the 2.7, with the 26"model I don't think it will fit the DH comp swing arm...not the width but because of the external diameter, someone with the 26" model could help you (HALO contra are in fact duro wild life and I think the razorbacks (stealth on'es are less tender...)and in last case you got the halo ception too in 24x2.6 ...http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/re/fr/halo-ception-24in-tyre/rp-prod12380

Greg,

If I was you I'd go a minimum of a 24" with the 4080 or best bet is just go straight to the motorcycle rim. Ship it to Missouri and have the MC rim installed and forget about it. You ride to fast and hard for a bike tire and that was on that wimpy 3540 clyte. Now your stepping up to some real power......

got that now w/ the hs3540!

thanks for the numbers, but while they might apply w/ standard infineon controller, they don't for the adaptto. if you had told me a year ago that i could go 50mph @ 20s i'd have had a good laugh. remember, i was running 24s w 18fet controller, albeit at 45A continuous, but didn't reach close to the speeds i'm at now w/ the miniE @ 20s.

i have no idea how or why this is so, but am guessing i'll hit 60mph w/o much of a fuss with this motor, that's in the same wheel size. which is more of a reason to go 24", IF i can get a very fat tire to add a bit of diameter. i don't the bb to go much lower..
