jeez, axel, are my vids that shakey? haha. just kiddin.

looks a lot easier to mount for my purposes that other diy gimbals, but definitely takes up more room. i wonder how noisy it is.

in other news, after a week of riding w/o pedaling at all, i finally replaced my freewheel:

since i have to stretch the frame a bit to accomodate the 7spd freewheel, i removed the derailleur, and nearly had a meltdown trying to get it back on. such a pia. i thought i could do it quickly before my commute, and perhaps had too much coffee beforehand. god i was ready to kill something... :x

Did you get 2 years on that freewheel?
i could guess but it would be pure speculation. i've not bought many new freewheels tho.

a bit of a dash this morning in later traffic

Happy birthday! Do you think you may get it published some day? :)

regen is back! i'm using the two wire on/off method instead of the variable regen w/ hall sensor, but find it perfect. rated regen amps was set to 35A but i reduced it to 20A for my 10ah pack (2C charge) and am very pleased. so glad to be saving my brake pads!

i jb welded a piece of metal to the lever and 'am still testing' the button placement w/ gorilla tape.

the button was cannibalized from an standard ebrake lever. when the button is out, the circuit is closed.

Great! But think I prefer a separate regen button. When I ride I always have my thumb on it, like a dead switch. Or when I just want to push it instead of reaching the lever. OR maybe I am just used to it because the bike came with one...

looks like a good spot. can you glue it there and adjust the activator arm?

how quickly does your regen turn on, is it instant or take 1/2 a second?

oh yeah... and the right lever is front brake on that? you must us that predominantly? or usse it as a switch for ebrake lightly and then get on rear brake for extra? seems odd. i like rear brake lever regen. but i guess you can use both wheels at one like that with one hand. is that the idea?

the activator arm is pretty flexible so i can adjust it even after having welded it on.

not quite a half second, but there's a tiny delay going on and off. used to it after a day tho.

right lever is rear brake and regen. pull a bit to activate regen. pull further to use pads (and still use regen).

this might help (before i jbwelded it):

I personnaly use front and rear ebrake
rear is rear ...with front it compress the rear suspension first (as we are use in DH) to give you more adherence on the rear then the weight shift to front with the rear stil on the ground because of the primary shock compression...find the balance and it gives you an extra to stop faster...like a kind of ABS (with a small switch as I posted earlyyou can disable easly...)

fyi: before cannibalizing an old ebrake for the button, (and having already given up on a hall sensor), i bought some (Normally Open - N/O) reed switches.

then i used my brain and realized they weren't going to work, since it only makes sense to have the magnet on the lever, and the (N/C) reed switch on the brake housing, so when the lever is pulled, it closes the circuit and activates regen. this does the opposite.

i had read this thread: Using Reed Switches For E-Brakes, saw that N/C reed switches were recommended but couldn't find them...

i think they'd be much better than my button. anyone know of a source?

How about placing the reed switch on the brake body and the magnet on the lever?
then how far would you have to pull the lever to activate the switch? if you want to activate regen with a light pull, then the magnet would have to be close enough to do so, and then if you pull harder, will the magnet be in the way, or if not, will it pass by so the switch turns off?

the switch is activated by either pole of the magnet, but not by the side of it...
