GNG BB drive (Sensorless)

I am using Lyen 3 speed switch. I was going to use Methtek, but I have no idea where I put it.

Received and installed the top chain guide. Good quality stuff that I got through Amazon.

Received the bottom chain guide and CA today. Did a few runs here and there.

The bottom chain guide thing came with a 12T pulley. Chain didn't fit, so I swapped it with the pulley from the GNG kit. Works for now.

I was surprised at the speed that I got on the 13T gear. It does suck out a lot of power though. I didn't see a speed increase with 12 nor 11T. I'm in the lower 20's on 13T gear and 60%(second speed setting). At first speed setting I'm doing 14mph or so. I got to figure out the datalogger problem, so I can sync the CA to it. Hate being off by even a little bit.

The Lyen 6-FET sensorless is sounding better and better to me the more I think about it. Is the LVC voltage programmable? Can I run that controller at several voltages if I change the battery and re-set the controller?

Yes, you can program the controller to whatever voltage you want. Just tell Lyen the voltage ranges you are going to use the controller with, so he adds the proper resistors and such in the controller. Will save you some money of sending the unit back in for upgrades.
You can also program the controller to a lower voltage and use the CA to control the voltage cutoff as you upgrade your battery pack. That is what I do. Beats walking around with my laptop in the garage, reprogramming the controller every time I change battery voltage.

is it very hard to learn to program these lyen controllers? i read somewhere not to try it unless you know what your'e doing so to me that means "you'll toast things". i have a bmc 30 amp controller for use on my v2 but i also have a gng kit that i'm building also. which is why i'm following this thread. everything you are saying about the mini monster leads me to believe this would be a great replacement(better than) for the bmc or the gng controller. in fact there are a lot of "programmable" controllers out there and i am wondering if the lyen is easier to program than others or not?

It's really not hard to program the controller. Lyen will send you a link with all the details. You can also find them on this forum. One thing to remember is, that you program his 6fet controller with the 12 fet controller profile due to his shunt mod. I fried one of my 6 fet controller using the wrong board profile.

Yea, they call me names until I let them ride the bike and the attitude just flips 180.

I forgot to mention that I didn't have any chain drop on the trails with the chain guide and tensioner that I installed. I fell once and the chain was still on. Avg speed between the trees was 12-15mph.

I had more vids, but are way to shaky.

I swapped out the seat for a Brooks Flyer saddle. Loved this seat today on the trails. I didn't have to get off the seat much with the hard tail bike. It looks like it wouldn't do much on the trails, but it sure did help a lot. Was fun chasing the 29'ers without breaking a sweat.

Here is another crappy vid. No pedalling involved. I'm 28 seconds into the vid.

Small update to the bike.

Swapped from 160mm to 203mm Avid Clean sweep front brake rotor. Brakes smoother from 30mph now.
Added a "kill switch" that is just hooked up to the brake wires.
Added a medium size Revelate bag that holds 14s2p Lipo now. I like how the bag has a cable inlet in the top front of the bag.

Looks good, snellemin. You say chain drop issues are now gone? Where did you get the bottom guide and did you have to add a link to your chain because of reduced slack? My homemade top guide needs some help, this may do it.

I got some balls today and did a few runs @ 20mph through the woods. Scary stuff mang. Forgot my helmet today, so I wasn't as "wild" today.

Received my new head light. It uses 3 XM-L led's and it's basically a spot light. Good news is, that those Magicshine wide angle lens fits to change the beam. Installed a set of Crazy Bob tires. What a bitch to install those things. Took 140 PSI to seat them properly and than drop them to 55 psi. They ride nice, but I will know better later after some serious mileage.

A vid of this morning ride, before I got hurt avoiding hitting a papa squirrel.

Thanks.

I'm using a Goodyear belt and has about 10 hours on it, with no wear yet. I still have the original belt as an spare.

I'm still hurting after I landed on my head when I avoided running over a squirrel. Bike and me landed in the bushes. . Squirrel better appreciate his thanksgiving with his little familia. Could of been a bad day for him and not me.

I swapped out the pulleys with 10T ones that have ball bearings in them. Checked the CA and saw that I pulled a max of 38A. Broke the CA clamp holder. Gonna come up with a different holder.
