A friend of mine was talking about getting e-bikes for her and her children (9 and 11), after seeing my cargo bike with a 8fun mid drive.
I saw that 3d robotics had a crazy deal on 4s 6000mAh lipos, and ordered 12 of them, https://store.3drobotics.com/products/4s6000-lipo-power
I plan to make three 12S 6000mAh batteries from them (saving the last three batteries for myself, don't know if it will go on a bike, quadcopter or plane yet). Not very large batteries, but I don't think they need much more, they won't be commuting or anything, just taking trips around fairly flat ground. Also, I will educate them properly on how to charge lipos, so don't worry about that =)
The question is, what motor (and controller etc, but that I can figure out I think) I should get? I don't want any more than 250-350W, it should be able to handle 48V, and I probably would prefer a front hub motor, but rear hub isn't out of the question. A bafang mid drive would be ideal, but that is probably too expensive. So any tips on what is available, has decent quality and is as cheap as possible without being lousy quality.
I won't mind mixing and matching components, and soldering things together. I also suspect I will need to lace up the wheels myself, something I have always wanted to learn anyway
Keep in mind I live in Spain, so ordering from the US is probably too expensive, if there aren't really good deals somewhere. I probably will order from ebay, aliexpress or something like that, but I would like to know if somebody has something in specific that they are happy with.
They don't even have bikes yet, so I won't commit to anything before they have decided which bike to get, but I would like to know the alternatives
