GT i-drive 2.0 Build

never thought i'd be quoting fox, but too lazy to look further. Many juicy targets around dc, but found this on capitol hill: Additional Information on Capitol Hill Security Incidents
Working backwards, just before Christmas, the US Capitol was placed on lockdown, meaning no one could come or go, after a man identified himself to US Capitol Police as having a gun. U.S. Capitol Police took cover behind barricades and eventually apprehended the man between the Russell and Dirksen Senate Office Buildings. The suspect was found to have no gun.

In July, 2009, U.S. Capitol Police pursued a suspect in a high speed chase down the wrong way of Louisiana Avenue in the shadow of the Capitol. The suspect eventually crashed his car in front of a Senate garage and drew a gun on US Capitol Police officers and began to shoot. He was shot and killed by US Capitol Police.

In January, 2008, a man parked his car on the Senate side of the Capitol (stocked to the brim with explosives) and was spotted carrying a shotgun across the Russell Senate Park. He was apprehended by Capitol Police after he told officers he had a meeting with US Chief Justice John Roberts.

In July 1998, Russell Weston Jr. approached the Memorial Door of the Capitol on the House side and shot and killed Officer Jacob Chestnut. Weston then entered the building and got into the office suite of then-House Minority Whip Tom DeLay (R-TX). Detective John Gibson was a plainclothes officer detailed to DeLay. Gibson was hit by Weston's gunfire. But before he died, got off a shot that wounded Weston. Weston would have died had had then-Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN), a heart surgeon, not saved his life.
if they stopped me anywhere else, i may have issues, esp if on legal bike. but down there, here's my badge, sir. care for a DNA sample while you're at it?

I'm still trying to figure out why a camera on the bike raises a red flag, but on the helmet, or in your phone doesn't. Some security-minded secret service individual please enlighten me. God help you if you have a picture of a gun on your t-shirt.

Those are pretty solid front brakes eh  thats alot of bike to manhandle. last weeks podcast is now live btw.

Wasn't the brakes! It was a branch buried under leaves...
No damage to bike or body (or camera!) :D

No soundtrack yet:

took a break from my ebike vid hiatus to try a new mount, inspired by hyena, and what do you know?

ooooh man, I laughed so hard at that!!!!
Good work Travis Pastrana

Nice mount location, I was actually playing with something very similar just this morning trying to better capture the wheelie action.
Hows the lens on your case going ? Any scratches yet ? Mine has 2 little line scratches but it doesnt seem to affect the video quality. I was pleased to see you can buy replacement lenses in 2 packs for $20 from gopro.

Hey that's fraking AWESOME! best ever!

You could just email GoPro HD company and see if you able get it replacement for the lense scratch?

I mean not hurt to ask if you can get it replacement under warranty.

Love the new angle Greg!! great shooting! really loved it mate, get an amazing sense of speed from down there, great that you can swap out the lenses cheaply as well, I suppose its pretty vulnerable to stones being thrown from the font tyre in that position? Thanks for sharing with us, as usual enjoy the weekend!

I was even reserved about mounting mine that low, going any lower would result in it getting smashed off with anything other that road riding. I often ride over logs and it'd get belted quick smart.

As for feeling slow, do you always ride in your full face helmet ?
I've been riding in mine alot lately and switched back to my normal bicycle type helmet the other day and it felt so much faster. A full face helmet and body armour certainly reduces the feeling of speed for me.

Chroot gopro arent going to replace the lens for general damage from use like this. They're pretty tough but the fact that they sell new lenses for $10 each is actually quite impressive

@Hyena- Oh not bad 10$ replacement.

Give GoPro company a call and get lense replacement 10$

when did i get these lipos anyway? i keep thinking they're new but i may have a couple hundred cycles on them. they don't feel quite as stiff as the last pack, but thanks to the recent podcast, i realized that my current controller is not programmed to 120%, as hyenas, and my prior controller.

anyway, the big speed drop came with the new 2.4" CST tires. the 1.75" studded snow tires were faster and lighter. i've got good acceleration at the beginning of the ride, but after a mile or so, it's a big sluggish. the motor does get awefully hot, and stinks pretty bad, even through the plastic end cap, more than the last motor. i wonder if there's any differences internally, toasted wiring, etc. my avg top speed on the flat right now is probably 38-39mph.

and no telling the effect of the salt on all my bearings, etc. the bike itself is probably slower now that it's caked with crap. not sure what to do about that. i'm afraid that it'll be like working w/ my dad's old VW bug, you hit a bolt with wd40, tap it a couple times with a hammer, than turn it gently, only for the head to fall off in your wrench... i'll ask the LBS what it'd cost for a full tuneup. may even toss the old rear tire on, remove the electrics and bash it around the woods too. i'd take jumps twice as high, that's for sure.

anyway, thanks for the comments.

and chroot, the lens is not defective, it's damaged from wear and tear. i can't just crash with it and ask for a replacement, not without a special warranty, which i don't have and wouldn't want to pay for...

.

I would strongly advise doing this WiTH the frock motor on the bike and of course the GoPro connected, higher the better the harder the landing the better... Rember though! broken bones is compulsory to get the HiGHSiDE nick too

i wonder how high i can drop from on the bike (with all the weight on). i really have no sense of what it can handle above say, 18". aside from wiping, the biggest concern would be breaking the bike, presumably at one of those frame points mentioned on page 1 -- dang, it's gone! :| that post always did concern me...

i'm thinking if the rear suspension bottoms out with a lot of weight, that pivot point might go.

Nice stack! Wonder how good would over-the-bars look on GoPro ;)

I know its not the same with extra weight, but I've landed heaps of 3-4ft on mine before it started cracking.
BTW if you ever need a replacement swingarm or other spares just ask

Trying to remember if you fried a motor. I seem to remember you destroyed a Hall in one. If you are smelling the motor that much, you are definitely stressing it. Doing a thermometer mod might be your next evolution  Harbor freight has the IR thermometers on sale. Are you running the stock phase wires from axle to controller? I always splice 10 gauge right out of the axle stub to run to the controller. Another possibility is to go to a 24" rim considering you noticed the difference between the snow tire and the Cyclops. What current was your CA reading (snow vs. Cyclops)?

Just keep inspection inch to inch on your GT bike's frame. I read the review in other website and it says GT I-Drive frame tend breakage by near the pivot and swing arm (usually crack) and it caused by stress from the jump.

So far, I watched your vid's jump action isn't bad and it shouldn't affect your pivot-swing arm crack or breakage.

Try not put hard on your GT frame and use your wise common sense. :)

So that's 3-4ft with or without all the electric gear? And thanks for the offer!

I've got an HK temp gauge, but haven't installed it. After hauling 100lbs of kids/trailer up hills at 20mph for a mile, that motor is freaking red hot. I couldn't touch it for a whole second. Way too hot. Just a quick tap hurts...

Recorded a basic commute with the gopro under the bottom bracket again this morning. Considered a couple jumps (since I've moved offices close to this jump), but hands were still frozen.

After locking up, I tried to unscrew the plastic case to bring into to work. But it was too tight for my cold fingers, so I opened the back to remove the camera.

And it fell out, landing on the concrete on its naked lens.

I'm now staring at two nice gouges in the hubble lens...

Your motor got scalding hot even in the freezing temps there ?! Or has it suddenly warmed up. I know you said the snow is gone but I assumed it'd still be bloody cold.

Bummer about the lens! I think I jinxed a few days ago by saying how cheap the replacement lenses are...
Do you usually unscrew yours ? I always pop the back open and take the camera out, leaving the rest on the bike. I suppose I dont leave my bike outside though during the day. I have a similar BB mount lined up for tomorrow mornings commute. Time for a BB-gopro-commute-footage-off
