still here. just busy, as my compilation of gropro timelapses will attest... most of this is on the homefront with the kiddies, so be warned...

Lovin' the time lapse videos. They may have just tipped me over the edge, and convinced me to buy a Go Pro, along with Jay's beautiful footage and editing.

So far I was thinking of getting the $299.99 HD Helmet HERO and the $19.99 Handlebar Seatpost Mount.

Any advice on which GoProHD kit to buy, and what additional mounts are useful for the bike?

Ha ha yes I know Jay posted it up last week, when Greg said the jump was about 3 foot I had to go and get the clip off youtube, funnily enough I couldnt find the actual jump clip anywhere or the other hilarious clip where Napolean spots Pedros bike for the first time, I remember laughing all the way through that movive, I have it on DVD too, I will grab the clips and post them if nobody can find them?

Cheers for the Gopro offer  jumping stairs eh! ha ha I used to do that on my normal bikes but my ebikes nah!! think I will pass but seriously considering buying one from ya ,would have to check what the situation would be with regard to warranty here in the UK? pretty sure it would be OK?

Yes I really loved Gregs timelapse video it was fantastic, a really nice mix of shots that also gave us a peek in to his family life as well which looks like the American dream, beautiful wife, beautiful kids, beautiful house, Beautiful bike :p

OH PS Deec cmon start your new build thread or update your old one!! we all want to know whats going on in Deec world..

" Take a look at what I'm wearing, people. You think anybody wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys? Forget about it. Last off, my students will learn about self respect. You think anybody thinks I'm a failure because I go home to Starla at night? Forget about it! "

in this thread? wow, i totally missed that. and i do read most of what you say because, despite your off-putting personality, you do seem right half the time... just kidding. seriously, i just went back to p117 and didn't see it...

anyway, regarding spokes, i do have spare ones at home, so still testing:

Ah never mind, I thought I posted the clip but I just checked my post HERE and it was only the napoleon dynamite quote I posted. Go back to ignoring me :p

Nice drops, although for once I think the gopro actually makes this sort of thing look less impressive. It was like you were riding along the wall and it suddenly turned into a clear glass ramp

Were you accelerating as your went off ? You should try yanking the bars just before you go off - popping the front wheel up will probably make it look like a bigger jump although you land harder on the back wheel going that I suppose...

sorry, hy, i can't help being obnoxious in the morning...

It's surprisingly hard to get the balance right on these drops. The rear wheel wants to drop right away, so I lean forward but it's very easy to overcompensate and land on the front. So nice to have 7" plunging travel on the front forks, but it still feels like a mess up.

there are 4 jumps. all shots were at A except the last (well lit) at B.

at D, there was a line of tourists waiting to get tickets (at the little house there). i almost put the tripod down and had them as a backdrop/audience while i did the jump in front of them... i was short on time though. would be funny to get them in on it. tell them how to gape, then clap... maybe a volunteer would be willing to lie down...

or i could just put out a hat with the sign "gopro fund". they're tourists after all! or tourons, as my work buddy calls 'em...

What are you trying to say? Just kidding... Beware they're addictive!

Excellent choice! Or the naked, with the handlebar mount. I personally find helmet mounts hard to watch, too much movement, too high from the action, bike looks like a toy. But if you like the footage you've seen, go for it. As hyena mentioned, the display case includes a flat mount wich is easy to modify (drill holes in) for a chest mount or whatever. I got the tripod mount ($8), and a gorilla tripod to attach to anything. I also just threw down for the LCD bacpac, so I can at least see what shots I'm taking. That's another chunk of change, but for how much I use it, hopefully worth it.

I bought the motor sports kit, but have only used the suction mount once, at the end of the timelapse. (thanks for comment, btw!). So that was a mistake. I wished I got the helmet. If you do get the naked, get the grab-bag of mounts, which enables right-angle positioning from mount base, though the handlebar mount includes that. If you want to attach it to tubes bigger than handlebar/seattube, you might prefer the roll mount. sometimes I wish i had that to mount to bigger tubes... sorry, a bit of a ramble, but hope that helps.... you might check out the DIY mods and everything else in this site.

Oh shit, You are going get a HS3540 hub motor? and it's gonna FAST! My friend completed his built ebike with hs3540 sensorless and he able reach 65mph (20s2p). He blew my 9C away and couldnt beat his speedy.

I cant wait finish my HS3540 lacing and mount on my ebike.

Sensored HS3540 is already here chroot, probably laced now too

last derail of Gregs thread i promise!!

like the most things, the first time was a learning experience...

some vid of the bmx track i found in the middle of the woods (walking to show the jump angles). and a torn up sports illustrated swimsuit magazine, of course.

haha! I would kill for dirt jumps like that for my dirt jump bike. We have something slightly toned down around here thats pretty decent but nothing like that. Wish I was 14 again so I could enjoy it...

lol at the kids
those junps look really far apart  you'd need a bmx and a lot of speed, are you thinking about taking the gt?
By the way Greg, on your homefront vid i loved the clip of the slow mo feeding birds?? im assuming you use the go pro software with imovie but how do you get the slow mo so clear, is it 60fps 720p using "trickster" ( i think that was what Jay said but dont recall properly) i would love to know the software you are using to compile your vids so i can do the same at some point?

D

twixtor was the program I was talking abou deec but I haven't actually got it going yet.
I just shoot in 60 fps then slow it back to 25 fps which basically gives 50% speed smooth slo mo.

Did you take any of the jumps Greg ?
I've got a few littlies like that around my way and the worst thing you can do is take em slow. I tried and very nearly came off. If you try and jump them slow or just ride over them fast you'll belt your bike and/or come off

I've got some old car rims here I need to dispose of. I'm thinking I'm might drag them into teh bush behind my house and start creating my own ebike jump course

or 20 and built like a crab! that one jump that goes nearly vertical with the landing so close look great for flips. i'm guessing one hard core dude behind that track. he's probably in college now. not the work of your average stoner.

yeah, i can't get twixtor to run yet, but it makes smooth looking footage at super slow speeds like this.

supposedly the eye recognizes smooth movement at 15 frames per second. movies standardized at 24 to be safe. and video at 30 fps. so when i set the camera to shoot at 60 frames per second, i can play it 50% speed in the video editor and get a smooth 30fps, or if i can slow it to 25% and play 15 frames per second. if i slow it down to 12.5%, or 7.5 frames per second, it'd be like a fast slide show, where one frame displays for 4 frames... twixtor takes two different frames and creates as many new ones in between as you like (depending on final speed).

Did you take any of the jumps Greg ?
negative. but i've got an old bmx that i yanked out of someone's yard trash which may be better suited...

behind my house and start creating my own ebike jump course
i like this idea a lot. should we start up a fund to ship the dirt and whatever else you need?

meanwhile, anyone know of a good site for spokes?
IMG_20110425_075140.jpg
you were right, Jay. of course. your batting average continues to be excellent. my spitfire light is still holding up at 3A tho... now that i've said that, i'll give it two weeks to die. with the heat of summer nearly upon us...

Danscomp is quick and inexpensive. You will have to order over the phone. Sometimes you can find them locally but will pay several times

flat halfway home. in front of the bus stop, so decided to wait for it. that was a mistake. coulda fixed it in the time i waited but it was hot and i was in dress clothes...
IMG_20110425_164702.jpg

shocked how loose this recently greased freewheel is. i think it's done! it'd probably be in better shape if i pedaled more!

and in other news, this little gem arrived. i hooked it up, and it's sweet. no more guesswork about what i'm shooting!
