Hall Sensor Problem

I just recently received my Motor Back from being repaired by Electric Rider.

Problem before was that my axel had spun inside my dropout.

Now I have Doctor Bass Torque arm welded onto it. The wires are perfectly fine and the same problem to where i hit the throttle and all i hear is a grinding noise again.

Is this the same Hall Sensor PRoblem again?

no idea what the original problem was that was supposedly fixed. no pictures of the work. not sure how a bad hall sensor can make a grinding sound since it is an electronic part and makes no contact with the rotating parts.

What tazzman600 said before about his ebike:

i am far from a wiz when it comes to ebikes i just get on it and ride
but recently my motor is making a loud grinding noise when i press on the throttle
i called electric rider about the problem and was told it may be the hall sensor
the problem with my sensor is that the silver round connector fused between my motor and controller
would i be able to cut the wire and than the motor will run
Please advise
I have the following parts in my bike
Phoenix II Cruiser Motor Rear (Crystalyte HS35)
Phoenix II Power System - Rear Motor with 7-speed Freewheel - Phoenix Cruiser - 4840 Controller - 26 inch - Thumb Throttle - APM Display
with the Lynn controller

So tazzman600, in order to help people here help you is that info still right? Crystalyte or Lynn controller? Crystalyte 48V or 72V controller? How many wires go to the hub motor now, 3 or 8? Does the wiring look like this:

Here's a video of Crystalyte motor making a grinding sound (skip to 0:50) when the throttle was twisted. Lyen controller. Hall miswiring was suspected.

Crystalyte HS3540 + Sensored controller = grinding noises? by RVD

So tazzman600 could work his problem like RVD did. Try with controller in sensorless mode. If no further noise try different combinations of Hall and phase wires, especially if controller making the noise is not one sold by Electric Rider for their hub motor.

If a hall is bad, or the wrong hall/phase combo is used, a "grinding" sound can come from the motor as the controller tries to start it up but can't sequence the phases correctly.

Has happened to me several times.

It could also happen that the phasewire power ran across the hallsensor wiring when all the wires got twisted inside the axle during the spun up.
This happened to me. Fried the hall sensors in the process.

After repair of phase and hallsensor wiring the motor phases got energized again as was indicated by the dark loud *HHNNGG* :)D) sound. But it still didnt turn because of the faulty sensor feedback. They all read 5V output continuous even when i rotated the wheel.

Test hall sensor feedback. Red + black = PWR. Test for 5V supply voltage. When there is no 5V -> controller sensor supply failure.
When there is voltage test the hall feedback. The three colored wires are the negative poles of the three hall sensors. Measure voltage between these terminals and the positive and notice a voltage change when you turn the wheel. This is what the controller takes as position input.

Sorry for the delayed feedback

i have the lyenn controller.

Three wires are coming out of the motor so it would be the second set of pictures

If you only have 3 wires, and not 8, connected to the motor you're running sensorless. Do you pedal at all to start off or are you just twisting the throttle? Can you record the noise and post it here?

That would be strange, given the first post refers to a hall sensor problem that happened before, presumably on this same motor?
