Have your gas savings outweighed ebike cost?

$8 a gallon

Assuming £1.40 per litre and an exchange rate of $1.5 to £1.

Bear in mind a US gallon is 3.81 litres, rather than 4.55.

Parking is the biggest commuting expense for me, so I am saving $300 per month. Gas for my commute is about $100. I recouped my ebike cost in about four months. On an average day I can get to work quicker on my ebike. At least once a week there is a traffic jam in the city (DC) where it would extend the car commute 30-60 minutes more, but I don't worry about that anymore.

Cheaper than a taxi  and the fun you can have if you are smart about it is priceless

Still amazed that some of you drive 11mpg cars, I have a 2,000cc Diesel estate that does nearly 60mpg and pulls like a train...well not mine but the other half's.
I hope non say the environment as a reason to cycle lol I'm doing really badly at 22mpg, but it is at least a classic sports car.

Is time money? I think so, and with traffic speed averages down below 12mph, for hours of the day, my bike makes the difference between working or not. I would have to be real skint to sit in that. You can't even use the time to get a sandwich. You just sit there. It's mind numbing. If I did a 9 till 5 I would gain almost an hour extra in bed through cycling.

Edit: Through e-cycling

Through E cycling same here, for 4300 miles, saved $2500 plus. The builds cost about $1800. Bikes were free to fix.

it depends what car do you own "to outweight cost"
I have 6 cylinder monster so for sure
my 6-year old Tidal Force paid for itself even if it cost $3500.

Spent $1400 on by ebike in 2011. Saved about $3k n bus fares and $6k on the overall cost of a car..

I win!

Found an interesting article on Yahoo about car costs:

http://autos.yahoo.com/news/what-your-car-really-costs-you-183738243.html

It's good to see articles like this: most people don't have a clue what they spend on their cars. If they did, they would wise up and ride ebikes.....
