Head stem, handlebars and comfortable riding?

I came to think about one thing the other night. My body is made for riding mtb's.
Whenever I ridden one I feel my upper body is leaned too much forward. And it feels like I sit at a racing bike made for Lycra men.

So I would like to have the Vector bike more of a comfy ride.

Is it possible to "reverse" a stem without ruining the geometry and handling of the bike? I would like to pull the handlebar backwards and up a little. I know I could use riser handlebars - but to be honest I am kind of stuck on the zero slope handlebars design.

Or maybe I should leave some extra space when mounting the fork so I can mount the stem higher up?
What will change the handling the least of these options?

I've been toying with the idea of doing a motorcycle style seat, like the Qulbix has as an option. That way I could move around a lot more - but to be honest that might make the Vector to motorcycle like for the cops. Then I looked into Brooks. But that seems just too much $ for a seat. But as I was looking for seats I came across some knock offs harley seats with springs. And those looked like they would fit my wide behind like a glove. But there was no pics of the under side of the seat so I have no clues what is needed to fit a motorcycle retro seat to a bike. Maybe there even is such seats made for bikes as well as for motorcycles?

The width of the seat is a plus for my wide heinie.
And I will not do too much pedaling anyway.

To get a comfortable ride on every bike I've owned, I've had to at a minimum, replace the seat. And on most I've had to replace the handlebars with a 5" riser bar. And with the ones with longer frames, I've replaced the stupid long stem with as short a stem as I could find. The best seat I've found that will last forever is this one.

I've tried ones that cost 3 times as much that broke within a year.

You need the bars higher, that seems for sure. A riser bar, even tall bmx bars are the easy way.

Different stem would help, but most of the "comfort bike" stems I've seen are for threaded headsets.

A new fork with a very long tube will allow you to use spacers to start out with the stem many inches higher.

Looks ugly, but you can get a stem "extender" for about $20 from performancebike that will extend the length of your stem or an adjustable stem (like those found on Pedego's) for about the same price.

I was thinking that I could maybe use one of these, but mount it the "wrong way". So the stem is backward. Rather then the handlebar will be in the front of the dual crown it will be to the back - closing the gap between seat and handlebars.

Unless you want to go with slower cruiser style bars that sweep backwards, it may be your only option to get a riser.

One handlebar that I really like is the Jones Loop H-Bar. I plan on getting one for my cargo bike build:

LOTS of bar space for hanging ebike goodies and multiple hand positions for different riding styles and comfort

Sure, you can back mount a steerer stem. Bent riders been doing it forever....

I have a few extra stems from this: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=21365&start=60#p324661

PM me if you want to buy one at half the new price, plus shipping of your choice.
