steveo said:Doctorbass said:Guys.. I think thet question of this thread should not just cover the low power meanwell..
The 1000 and 1500W model are also really interesting!!
and since this serie is made of higher quality ( RSP, RCP, etc) they have many good feature for power, current and voltage stabilisation.
Generally they indicate overcurrent rated 125% max
that mean they sustain 125% of their rated current no prob!
In fact, my 1000W meanwell ( 48V 21A) really charge at 1250W continuous DC output
and the 1500W is 1700W Dc out from a single 15A 120Vac outley...
Sometime i dont understand why many are using these 500W model and that theiy add 100$ modification + time t them and that end to a 200$ psu of 500W
for that price you can iccasionally get one on ebay that os 750 or 1000W with higher specs! ... and ready to deliver the full power you need without going into overload, overheat etc!
for 130$ more you can get the 1000W brand new or for 50$ more yu can get the 1500W on ebay!
personally over the last 3 years i bought 3 of them that are used.. (the 750W, 1000W and 1500W)
They all work today and have a really great power density! THEY ARE COMPACT SIZE!
exemple:
1000W 48V for 130$ and... MAKE AN OFFER.. ( btw.. the price of shipping is also offered for 30$)

All you need is occasionally go on ebay and search with : meanwell 750 1000 1500
Generally in less than one month you get what you look for
Doc
Hey Doc,
I win the 2 units of the 1000w psu... i bought 2 units to charge at 100v @ 20 amps... according to your estimate ... its approx
i should get about 2400w charge rate Lol
I don't think any wall outlet in my house will let me do that...
I may have to use that zantrax household inverter 4500w continous ... 9000w peak! ... to charge my bike... LOL
is there any way to adjust current in the 1000w units?
correct me if im wrong, but there is no PFC in these models correct?

I dont know if there is a PFC.. did you checked on teh spec sheet?.. if they dont mention it they dont have it.
There is a way to drop the max power limit of them.. but i never tried to. There is a shunt inside on the HV DC section.. you just have to add some turn on the coil.. or to sand the shunt...
