How would you write ideal ebike regulations (Part 2)

Here you go Lock, the ideal ebike regulations would be to simply ban all cars and trucks, leaving all that infrastructure for ebikes alone. Then for the most part adequate rules and controls like speed limits and traffic lights are already in place, so the only change for ebikes could be that at red lights right and left on red are both allowed, as well as straight on red....assuming a sufficiently safe break in traffic. Not only would all cyclists, electric or otherwise, have safe roads for travel, but then pedestrians can have their sidewalks and paths back.

Right on GS! ("Good Sir")

Butt... (sp? Yeah, there's always a butt isn't there?) Folks (mostly perhaps North Americans) *love* their "cars", don't they?

The continued repetition of driving despite adverse consequences and a neurological impairment leading to such continued behavior? ...

Ooops... Sorry, wrong definition. That is almost word for word the Wikid Pee definition for the word ADDICTION.

Even on Alt. Planet ES some folks are desperate to "fine teat" (sp?) behaviours (via "laws") which some might conclude clearly have NOT worked (see the words "murder" and "mayhem". See also the phrase "over weight" maybe, or "loss of bodily functions" perhaps.)

(Silly bugger takes the plunge anyway.) Perhaps the horseless carriage for person-al use might instead be banned (there's that ugly/silly word again) just from city "down town cores"?

And yeah, most traffic lights and signs have been developed after much thought about how to control the runaway heavy and fast HC ("horseless carriage". Well, not the vehicle itself so much as the OPERATOR).

(Oh! I know. Lets try instead to refer to the operator as "the driver"? Think "golf clubs" perhaps.)

So, downtown cores. Airs smell better (who'd have thought!), walking to the corner store or crossing a street is no longer a life and death experience (Butt EVerybuddy loves to gamble, don't they?).

I expect there is a long list somewhere of the advantages to banning the HC in the DC ("downtown core").

L
(PS. But, but, but... Watt exactly constitutes the DC??? And so the endless wash(out) cycle carries on.)

My attention (as foggy as it may be... Burp) has been brought to the attention of this online article "German town abolishes traffic lights and codes. Accidents are now almost non-existent!"

As of this date, from 127 daze ago, here:
http://www.minds.com/blog/view/248215469679448064/german-town-abolishes-traffic-lights-and-codes-accidents-are-now-almost-non-existent

(My thanks go to another denison of the not-too-deep here in the Planet of Altered Reality (aka "ES" for short).

(Oh, and for any here that may wish to continue much hand-wringing, drinking away their sorrows, etc. nothing to see here folks! Please just go back to this conversation (Part One). AKA How to fix Broken Stuff by adding more Broken Stuff.)

That is all kinds of win right there!! About time people did this as I want to live in a town like that!

Hehe... In unrelated news, in the small town of Bohmte (a municipality - 2012 pop 12,706 - in the district of Osnabrück, in Lower Saxony, Germany), residential real estate prices have sky rocketed. (Even the fake estate stuff I guess.)

Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Anyway... If I has any Deutsche Marks (sorry, "Euros"), I'd be investing in some/any Bohmte property. Like, right now.

Oh goody! Doggy treats back in the running maybe... Might try experimenting. (Only with "chicken fingers" of course. See watt flavours puppies really might prefer. Re "penalties" above.)

Hehe... In another ES thread ("Society Is Doomed, Scientists Claim") one Canadian Wet Coast (sp?) guy posted a link to this Youtube vid ("Paradise or Oblivion", re the "Venus Project"), here:

... and from their website, here:
http://www.thevenusproject.com/

In part:
The Venus Project proposes an alternative vision of what the future can be if we apply what we already know in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable, but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalogue of problems inherent in today's world. Today many people believe what is needed is a higher sense of ethical standards and the enactment of international laws to assure a sustainable global society.

Anyway... Perhaps not related to this here thread, but may explain the "ideas" being "talked about" in Part One of this thread? (How to fix broken stuff with MORE broken stuff.) And to the list of "age-old inadequacies" perhaps travel "rules" aka "regulations" might be added?

So. As of this date, over 800 Views from denisons on Alt. Planet ES, and no picking apart?
Universal Rules of Travel:
RULE ONE (for ANY vehicle operation in any atmosphere, aka "space"): NEVER DO HARM.
RULE TWO: NEVER TRUST (yourself, but especially not any other creatures, etc.)
Corollary: EG, your own and other vehicles, on land called the "terrain", etc. Most "stuff" will ALWAYS "change"/"wear" (and wear "out" and/or "break"), if not maintained or replaced as needed or desired). So, one should ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP PLAN and ALLOW FOR "CONTINGENCIES" (or be prepared to suffer the consequences).

RULE THREE: NEVER EXCEED PRUDENT VEHICLE OPERATING SPEEDS. (See Rule One, above.)
RULE FOUR: BE AWARE (Of other creatures and things eg your own vehicle operating indicators.)

Quote; "Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools."

Hehe... Reminded me of this tread.
