I'd like to use a wireless fob instead of key switch with Fardriver

I want to use a remote start wireless fob instead of a key switch to activate my Fardriver 72680 controller via the orange wire. I've attached a link to the one I want to use, but I'm uncertain on how I should wire it.

The fob base station is powered by the 12v DC/DC connection, and when you press the on button on the Fob it activates a relay for the "output" side. I'm not confident in my wiring knowledge about how I should wire this. Option 1 is the connect the red output wire to the orange fardriver wire, and connect the black wire to the positive battery feed just like an on/off switch. Option 2 is to run the black to the negative post on the battery (or controller) and run the red positive to the orange wire.

Can anyone advise me on this? thanks

If the fob can directly control the full battery voltage of your system, then you use it's output terminals in exactly the same place and way you would use a keyswitch.

if it cannot, then you must use it's otuput terminals to control a relay that *can* handle the full battery voltage of your system.

It doesnt' need to carry any significant current, as neither would your keyswitch, if the keyswitch just connects the controller's KSI keyswithc ignition wire to battery positive.

Keyswitches dont' normally carry mcuh current, maybe a few dozen to a few hunmdred millamps, in any typical system, and they normally only connect two wires toegether just like the fob does.

If your systems' wiring is some other way, you'd need to post your wiring diagram for us to know what it is and make suggestions.

If the fob simply connects it's two output terminal pins together likea swithc or relay does, when active, and disconnects them wehn inacitve, then doing option 2 would short out your battery by connecting your battery negative to your battery positive, since the "ignition" wire on the contorller must typically be connnected to battery positive to make the controller work. (you have to check your controller manual for how it's wiring needs to be done first; I'd recommend drawing upa full system wiring diagram if you haven't already done so to kepe trakc of where eveyrhing in your system goes).
 
I just used this exact fob just last month. When the battery was discharged to like 72v it was working fine all day, but as soon as the battery was charged to 84v it got fried.

The issue is that the output is also 12v if you use 12v input for the fob since it's internally connected.
In order to get it to switch 72v you'll need to open the box and cut the 12v trace going to the relay and solder a wire that will carry 72v and then connect the controller to the 3rd terminal.

There are also key fobs on AliExpress that can do this for ebikes and scooters. I ordered a set so I can report back once that has arrived.
