I just got clocked at 75km/h in my friends truck and it is new enough that it should be acurate. I also beet him in a drag race to 60km/h. Man to fun I am not sure at all on my settings I programed into the controler! But as for tonight I am tired so I will just do some battery ballancing and wire in my brake and try to figure out the CA. I would love to get to 60mph! Even though stevo said you can't I am realy thinking I want to figure out the WYE DELTA mode for this wheel this winter. I also don't mind the ride up to 70km it is good and still stable! I am used to hi speeds on this bike because I have alot of big hills here!
If you have any questions, i've done it in that wheel. I sadly don't run the type of power you do though! I'm 51v and 60a limited.

Still gets me to 42+mph in delta.

Look through this to see how I did it to my wheel. You'd need heavier duty relays, and I would put 6 of them in the motor and parallel 2 of them for each phase.
(oops forgot the link...)

Sucsess! :D Holy man this thing is hard to keep the front wheel down! I never thought it would be that powerfull off the line. As for what I did I installed the new fet then checked out the bord and installed the heatsink and then touched all the fet legs with the soldering iron and relived any stress on them to the heatsink. Then I assembled it and tested it on the bike and it didn't even turn a 1/8 of a rev till pop and it quit again. Then I took the bord out and looked and this time one of the two fets I reused had blown right apart so I pulled it and found the other two from the tree were blown. I was lucky I ordered 10 from ebike.ca and I put three new ones in and jumpered all the triger legs together to make sure if one gets a little bit of a weak signal it will get it from the other two. Then I made sure it worked with out putting it in the case and did it all step by step. So for now I road home and it is realy cool being able to climb hills with cars folowing me and they are get further and further away! I don't have alot of the settings in the CA set yeat I went through it quickly and It dosn't read speed yeat so I need to figure that out it is set for 12 poles but I think I might have missed something.
I am definatly very thank full for guys like you methods! And very thankfull you answer posts on here so fast!

How you liking my motor :D, I'll be waiting for that smoke show :p

Oh its coming! I showed a friend my new toy tonight and one of my stunts was to hover over the front wheel and ride the front brake while doing a rolling smoke show! I just want to get my rear brakes working again and finish up a couple things then I will make a sweet video! I am loving it can't quit giggling :D

So in the CA there is no way to make it switch from using the magnet sensor to the yellow wire?

Umm on 2nd thought, I don't think any of t he x5 motors can do Delta/wye. Someone will have to confirm, but I seem to remember Doc not being able to.
Edit: Sorry for the OT, i'll cut it out now.

So.. Yeh doing some searching and I have a CA from methods that has the magnetic pickup and I need to get it to read from the yellow wire instead. I found stevo posted about it and nuts and volts responded but he edited his posts to not read anything!

Well my thinking is like this it is now either a delta or a wye and it can be switched to the other so I am hell bent on figureing it out!

No, I think it was the stator design that would not allow delta operation. Using relays to switch it, or hard wiring it is not going to make a difference. The X5 is just not able to operate in Delta mode.

Tostino is right, it doesn't work well on Crystalyte motors, due to the way they are wound. Do a search on delta-wye and trapezoidal winds and you should get the relevant posts where this was discussed.

ok but what about my CA not reading speed? It is one with a magnet but do I got to do something to make it read from the yellow wire?

Found what I need here http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11674 few don't need a speeding ticket hahahah

Yep - here is how i do the mod:

- Cut the black wire at the outside. Leave it in the grommet to plug the hole
- Remove the 4 screws
- Carefully cut back the sleeve of the main loom
- pull out the yellow wire and strip back 1/8"
- desolder the two wires that went to the magnetic pickup. Make sure you dont accidentally remove the other black ground wire!
- Solder the yellow wire to the Sp pad
- closer'er back up

Remember that the board is conformal coated so it may act a little funny when you are soldering it.

New subject:

Regarding the X5 - Sorry - it is not sinusoidally wound - it is trapezoidally wound - so you cant do Delta-Wye.
The good news is that is well matched to your controller!

RE - MAJOR POWER

Please - keep an eye on the temps. You are running something like a 120A current limit and you could be seeing peaks to 300A.
You will smoke that motor on a hot day if you smash on it.
I have done it!

Isn't it great to see another guy enjoying 24S lipo with effectively no current limit on the baddest ass motor/wheel combo available?

This is why I put the kits together. :p

Arlo1 is out there changing minds right now.... All his gear head buddies who have been calling him a nerd for building an electric bike are now at home shaking their piggy-banks trying to see if they can build one too! The hardest people to convince are motor-heads.... They have to see it to believe it - but once they do they know it is the shit and they have to have it

Perfect. One step further in the electric revolution.

Dude I am totaly with you I will be getting an estimate together for what I did shortly. My one friend came to check it out came to my shop and watched me ride it out and ever time I touched the throttle it poped the front up he was then scared to try it out so then he did and come back saying he wants one and he was to afraid to stand up he is a pro bmx racer too! We both decided to let our third friend try it with no warning and see what happens he is the one who is like bla bla bla electric bla bla I like the sound of motors and can't under stand electric bla bla. To funny because the three of us ride Motocross together and I tune all our bikes to have perfact throtle response and it still can't come close to the response of this thing WOW! I am telling the world and will be offering this through my buisness as well as an off road only thing of course

Ok so i got my speedo working and at 55km/h i have amazing throtle response STILL  Man this thing pulls! OK so tonight i hook up my bbq sensor and ebrake. I have a million questions but the first one is if I set my ca to hi mode and .2500uohms is it close with the shunt you put in the kit methods? I will go through the proceduer and properly calibrate it but it said my Peak amps were 300.8 this morning and I watched it on the go and I figure I can keep the motor cool that way once I am moving it doesn't seem to be to bad full throtle at 40km is ~60 amps have to look again. And PS now that I have the speedo I see that anything under 30 km/h (I was guessing it was 20km/h before) is forced weelies! I can wheely up long hills like nothing! Who wants to send me the next motor 8)

If you cut out the stock shunt you will probably have a shunt value of around 260uOhms to 280uOhms
If you left the stock shunt in and soldered your shunt in parallel then the value is probably around 230uOhms

Lift your rear wheel and give her full throttle
Should pull about 2.5A with your setup

One note: Your controller is limited to 90% speed.
If you go into the software and set the speed limit to 110% you will pick up a few MPH
DONT get greedy and try to take it to 115% - 110% is enough.

Also - I have offered twice to send you example scripts.
Make sure you are keeping the ratio of phase current to DC current correct if you re fooling around in there.

Ok thanks I will try that because 75k on a bmx is not enough.
Oh and I charged up the battery and went to ride home from my shop at first I was peddling for 2 reasons #1 I wanted to save some battery for a friend to try it
and #2 I wanted to see how hard it is to peddle. And its not bad but after a bit I gave it about 1/2 throttle at 10km/h and it fliped out from under me and I landed on my knees! Man that hurt. It was totaly a homer simpson move to funny!

You need riding gloves and a full face helmet.
You will be sorry if you dont get them.

Congrats on your 12! Hard on the tailbone, but good for the spirit. :) Take Methys advice about the gear. A pair of superbike gloves is the best investment you can make for any activity involving 2 wheels and pavement. Full face helmet is a damn good idea as well. Bike helmets are 90% useless IMO.

*just incase you aren't up on the lingo, when you wheelie up and over, it's called "12' O-clocking", because your wheel went past the straight up and down (12' O-clock) point, which nearly always results in flipping over on your back side if you can't get a frantic stab of the rear brake in fast enough.

Actualy I was wearing a full faced mx helmet with goggles need the goggles because they stop my eyes from watering, and I never ride anything without gloves because they save my hands! As for the lingo Liveforphysics I am up on it I raced mx for 5 years and I am a motorcycle mechanic I have some pretty insane customers! I also am a wheely god so soon I will make you all a sweet ass video!

Awesome...

I am so flipping jealous of wheelie masters...
My wifes friends husband came over last year and rode my original high power electra Cruiser.
First time he had ever been on the bike - big long cruiser frame - no rear brakes - fist time EVER riding an electric bike...
He goes by once, goes by again, then pops up and rides a wheelie all the way down the street.

"I am jack's broken heart"
"I am jack's inflamed sense of rejection"
"I wanted to destroy something beautiful........"

I promptly went out and melted my X5 down trying to teach myself how to wheelie.
Have not got it yet - but I will.

I have the same feelings about those who can wheelie, and wanting to be able to do it. I had an mx bike for 4 years before it got stolen from my house this februrary, and I was a good rider, could jump reasonably well, took whoops well too. However, for the life of me, all I could do as far as wheelies go was a power wheelie. It was completely uncontrolled, and I didn't feel comfortable doing it. Something I will master when I get another mx bike :p.

I have broken more bones then I can count incl. my back, my legs, colar bone, skull, ribs, fingers, arm, you name it I have been crosseyed for a month and a half. Being afraid of getting hurt was not my thing. But all my skill came at great price I can predict when the rain is coming and hurt alot but I just shug it off. I got to say though if you want to learn to wheely get a wheel chair I was in one for 6 weeks and I got it down so good I could lock both brakes while up in a wheely and swing my legs to ballance while I ate my supper beside the table! As well I have a honda z50 and when It was still a 50cc engine it was hard to get up to a good weely so I lernt to ballance it very well. Oh and when I lived in edmonton I had a non powered bmx I would wheely at walking speed and use the v brakes for ballance and ride behind people on the sidewalk and pass them as there was openings in the crowd my friends hated me because I would make them all look bad! :D

This is from the new 100V 100A thread.
.....

I added a bunch of information on how to program the controllers.
I also included example settings that you can import.
All of the software, drivers, etc are there.

HOW TO PROGRAM THE METHODS 100V 100A PROGRAMMABLE REGEN CONTROLLER

This stuff assumes that you have been following the infineon thing to some degree.
If you are a total nOOb I can help you out.

Yup I used your controller testing program methods and its way faster now every bopdy who rides it crashes! I have a full faced helmet rule though. It is now one of those circus rides that the carneys can do but you can't! Every body touches the throtle and lands on there ass!
I got to get a camera charged up! Oh and after testing doing burn outs wheelies ect every thing as hard as I could I mesured the stator temp it was at 150 degF so not bad. I ported my drilled holes to flow air like a turbine I am not shure how much it helps but I knew I would want it. With my ca set at 2600 for shunt resistance it said I have peaks of 260 amps after all of this. I shouldn't be doing that because my battery is only rated to 150 for now.
