Nice score on the handlebars. Carbon bars and seatpost will look awesome with the red. And as we know, red and black goes well on your chopped frames
Rodger, white looks ace on these frames so i think you made a wise choice. Are you still going to use carbon vinyl decals?ROG130 said:good for you paul i was going to go for red but went for white handle bars look very cool i just finished my centre stand today and it works very well so no more leaning on the lamp post or fence will ad photos at weekend
Ta mate yeah i'm chuffed, it should all tie in nicely. Red and black sure does go together well on the chopped frames, how well is your's coming along?Hyena said:Nice score on the handlebars. Haha, after all the work i've put into this frame i'll be getting buried with it me thinks lol.Garrick_s said:Let me know when my frame is ready for delivery.
I hear ya re the heat, some summer days just drain ya so much you just don't wanna ride eh. Might be the perfect time to do the tear down and maintenance your bike needs, then it'll be good to go when the heat subsides and the days get to that perfect inbetween temp. Haha i've always wanted to do night trail rides! Good lighting would be needed thats for sure, especially to keep an eye out for cougars and coyotes!!!Garrick_s said:I gotta break my bike out and ride....just been sooo hot lately around here.Plus my bike is due for a tear down and rebuild - linkage points and head set cleaned and re-lubed etc. and just overall check of frame and components. But I need to get out and ride.May have to break down and get some lights for some night riding!Trails are empty at night (except of coyotes and Cougars) and nice and cool.
Thanks Kepler. After seeing this comment i went out and checked the mounting of the derailleur - I hadn't mounted it correctly when screwing it on...Kepler said:Just looking at your derailleur, you really have it tucked up. Is that how its meant to sit? I would really like my derailleur to tuck like that. What brand is that?
Yeah it is a bit top speed pedalling limited but its a compromise I'm happy to live with. When choosing the chainring size, i took into account what speed range i'd be using it for the majority of riding and decided to target the 10-45kph zone for cruising slowly with the girlfriend through to tight to medium single track. And after riding it last summer in 40deg heat on an 8km ride unpowered, i wanted gearing that wouldn't be too hard to pedal longish distances should i mis-calculate distance or have a drama and have to pedal it home.Kepler said:The only negative I can see with this bike is that with the small ring gear, you wont be able to offer much pedal assistance at high speeds. Probably not a big issue though for what the bike is designed for. This where the Schlumps come in really handy.
Cheers Keyne! A liquid cooled HT would top it off nicely :wink:keyne said:That is one sweet looking ride! Awesome work Timma!
Ta dude. I hear ya re the large carbon patches, their not the best way to fly under the radar but i love the look of them!Hyena said:That's looking SLICK mate, very very nicely done. Depending on the look you're going for I'd avoid big patches of CF. The stock stickers make it look like an off the shelf bike at a glance. If you see a bit CF side profile it might draw more attention. They do look good and I like them on my fighter but then it's not very subtle to start with.
Sweet, not nuch to go then. Hurry up and get it finished!Hyena said:Oh and mine is finally together. If I could get a solid half day to work on it and finish off the battery pack tidy up all the wiring it'd be ready to ride.
Cheers FT, yeah its pretty close to the OEM red. Funny enough this frame started out black, then the previous owner painted it white and now its red.full-throttle said:Nicely done! Red is so much better. Looks close to the original Intense red.Video please!
Having consistant colour has definately changed the way the bike looks, looks more unified now eh.Idontwanttopedal said:Like the red. It looks a lot smaller now it in colour
Thanks Whiplash. Gee i just dunno about the large sticker, i've taken the stripes off and will leave the writing for now... Yeah i'll put the other one on the LHS on the battery cover to even it up nicely.Whiplash said:AWESOME! Love it, I would leave the sticker, it makes it look less "E" and tends to shrink it. I WOULD however put another sticker on the other aide and trim it so you can take the cover off, would look nice symmetrical..
Haha mistaken identity!BATFINK said:Awesome ROG, the stickers were a great idea, makes it really stealth. I'm almost finished mine and totally stuck what colour to make it, a matte black? An anthracite grey? Or go crazy with bright orange or electric blue.
Timma2500 said:Hurry up and get it finished!I can't wait to see the final product, it'd make for a great commuter I reckon.
Hey BatFink, yeah mate i'll drop by your thread again, just been flatout latelyBATFINK said:Please take a look at my build Timma "Norco 2003 custom frame with schlumpf" as I've not had much feedback. Just Rog really and yourself who have took an Interest in the project.
Thats quite a melodias esc you have there, is it not arming correctly?Hyena said:If you want a sneak peek you can see it here in the background of an unrelated video (issues with my new quadcopter)http://youtu.be/1_DlyMjIf8UBut yeah, this weekend hopefully she'll be rolling. I think I might paint my forks black to match the swing arm and the red/black theme. What do you reckon ?
Ah bugger! Have you enough room to atleast hard wire the packs together? If you still want to be able to un plug them from each other, some deans plugs might be the way to go, their quite small physically but still flow a decent amount of currentHyena said:The last of my issues are my own doing, in getting you to make it to the frame dimensions I specified to keep the size to an absolute minimum I've not left myself much room to fit the wiring. I usually parallel charge but given my new you beaut balance chargers I'm thinking I can just bulk charge it and have a single centronics plug plug in the outside for when balancing is required.
Nah won't calibrate the ESCs properly so 3 of the 4 props spin up and the 4th is out of whack so it won't lift off or tries to flip on it's head :lol:Timma2500 said:Thats quite a melodias esc you have there, is it not arming correctly?
Was originally going to run a mac for a lightish/subtle build but currently have a HS3540 on it. H40 would be nice for a powerful commuter but then I'd need an 18 fet and everything snowballs. What hub did you end up putting on it, a 4080?
Yeah there's room for that - probably even jamming the existing bullets with their housings on. but if not removing the plastic cover and heatshinking them would be fine for clearance. The problem is in mounting the andersons vertically in the plate like i was planning. I could just run the wires outside but I want to keep it neat. I suppose I could put a charge port further up on the neck where there's space though.Have you enough room to atleast hard wire the packs together? My Giant DH Comp is sitting in my new garage thinking pretty much what eveything else in my life is thinking right now: "Hurry up and finish your @%*#&*@ PhD!"Timma2500 said:Cheers Keyne! A liquid cooled HT would top it off nicely :wink:keyne said:That is one sweet looking ride! Awesome work Timma!
Hows your Stinky running? That is a bloody nice bike man!
Shit sorry mate, dunno why i said it was a Stinky, brain fade lol. Well i think you know what you have to do - hurry up and finish your damn PhD!keyne said:My Giant DH Comp is sitting in my new garage thinking pretty much what eveything else in my life is thinking right now: "Hurry up and finish your @%*#&*@ PhD!" Yeah, not had a lot of time for it in a while. That should change soon, hopefully. Your posts have inspired me to try to make some time for the bike.
How'd you end up setting it up? You're using 18s in it aren't you?Hyena said:Yeah there's room for that - probably even jamming the existing bullets with their housings on. but if not removing the plastic cover and heatshinking them would be fine for clearance. I do it so infrequently that removing the cover plate when necessary is probably going to be easier.
And you'd need more AH's cos we know you wouldn't be able to control yourself :wink:Hyena said:Was originally going to run a mac for a lightish/subtle build but currently have a HS3540 on it. H40 would be nice for a powerful commuter but then I'd need an 18 fet and everything snowballs.
Tricopter perhaps? Did you get the ESCs sorted?Hyena said:Nah won't calibrate the ESCs properly so 3 of the 4 props spin up and the 4th is out of whack so it won't lift off or tries to flip on it's head
Yep 18S2P. With the higher speed motor I spent the majority of my commute today in the 70% mode which topped out at 55-60ks which is fast enough for the job. Consumption was good too, only 5ah for the 16km trip so I take back my previous comments. Ridden sensibly they CAN be economical and fast.Timma2500 said:How'd you end up setting it up? ESCs were OK, turned out to be a dud flight controller. I'm going to get different type as a replacement - spend a bit more and get one with GPS and all manner of other cool shit 8)Did you get the ESCs sorted?
Very well done mate, that looks fantastic. I don't think I've seen a better looking hub motor build on the forum. Its finally finished![]()
That's good to know, the avid codes on the front of my diamond back badly need bleeding (I have to pull them all the way to the grip to get the bike to stop) but I'll put it off for now!man what an overly complicated job bleeding an Avid brake is!
Holy crap, 55 - 60kph @70%! Man that must be tempting to stick it in 100 or 120% and twist it all the way :wink:Hyena said:Yep 18S2P. Ah bugger, atleast it gives you an excuse to upgradeHyena said:ESCs were OK, turned out to be a dud flight controller. I'm going to get different type as a replacement - spend a bit more and get one with GPS and all manner of other cool shit 8)
It'd be no different to the elephantitas i currently have  Yeah i wish lol.Hyena said:I'm sure there'd be no shortage of people queing up to offer their left testicle for that. Do you reckon you'd walk funny with an extra one sewn in there ?
Nah. Although they have sentimental value (bought 'em while living in London 8yrs ago and have been on every bike since), i felt the same way as you and have these bright babies coming in the post from CRC this week:Hyena said:You keeping the blue pedals ? They're the only thing that look slightly out of place to my eye.
