Is Jimmywu66 & EastUnitedMusic the same person?

I looked on ebay last night and noticed that there are several seller of lifepo4 batteries out there. They all look to me to be coming from the same source that Lau Chan uses. In many of the pictures you see the same type of bms, connectors, and stickers. I even saw a couple with the lifepo4.hk url sticker like mine had. I emailed that new ebay vendor cammy_cc and found that they use the 18650 cells and the same bms as Lau Chan. I wonder if all the new sellers are connected to Lau Chan some how? At least cammy_cc has better writing skills.

It was good to hear that Bob is getting his money back. I guess I could have done the same if I hadn't been so eager to rip mine apart.

I may wait until Ping starts using something like the Headway cell until I purchase another life04 pack. The current state of the higher C rating packs have not reached my price point yet.

i think bob still lost a buncha money. there may still be time to get into the headway group buy. i think they either have closed the container or waiting for the last people to finish paying the 60% balance. ask joshua over at the lifepo4-purchase@yahoogroups.com if there is anything available, you would have to pay full price to get it in the container.

Ya...

After the refund, I'm still out $500, return postage and duties. Paypal required me to have the batteries returned to lau within days, so that required air mail with tracing on a heavy package. I'll bet I have over 100 emails on file on the road to refund. What a pain...and what a huge relief. I was losing sleep over those lau batteries.

cammycc isn't lau related, but a lot of those sellers are. In fact, if you write cammycc, they can likely provide you with a list.

On the bright side, I got in on that group purchase from headway. I'll be waiting a while, but they were a better deal than even ebay duct tape batteries. I think my refund will more than pay for the systems I ordered. Oh, joy.

I just stumbled at these Seiko parts (S-8209) that look very interesting for a stackable and selfbalancing solution. They seem to be pretty elegantly designed. Only problem- I am yet to find anybody with stock. Most distributors are unfamiliar with these parts. Whom were you able to sample them from?

I've not mentioned it before, but I've developed my own 12 cell BMS with UV LV cutoff, and balance function. This is identical funcitonality from what the SIGNALAB boards use.

There are two problems with my board:
1. It uses a new SEIKO chip S-8209 that is not in production yet, until december, so I cannot offer for sale. 4 prototypes built with samples.
2. It has a fixed voltage set, meaning that it currently works with 4.2 V Lithium-ion, but woudl not work for 3.7 V cells like the valence lifePo4.

I like the Bob Mcree analysis and enjoied the endless thread, I just thought there was a more simple solution. The S-8209 does all three voltage measurements, and communicates to adjcent chips. Each cell only needs a S8209, FET and balance resistor. It's not perfect, but has been working Ok for me.

I can post some pictures at another time/thread.
