Hello Everyone, I finally built my first bike. I wanted to thank all of you guys for all the info you post, it helped me out quite a bit. I'm running a 36volt 8ah nicad triangle,25amp controller,9C on a big ol' heavy tandem from costco. I got the kit from ebikes.ca.

Good one, nice to see another tandem here. Looks like very similar power level and weight to mine. Electric stoke assist.. ASSIST.

Exclusive clubs seem to the rage here as of late.. lets make us a tandem club.

Nice bike. I love bikes that can handle a load.

I ride 3 on mine on a daily basis, but only 1 crank and no one pedals. Can I still join the club?

Do they make convertible tandem/cargo bikes? I'm visualizing something simple anchored in the rear seat tube to make a tandem a real cargo hauler, though at the speeds I ride, the pilot really needs to me on the rear seat when riding along since such a forward COG would be a significant problem. At 20 or less it's probably not an issue though.

Hey guys I'm down with that. What I need is more power 'cause with me it just makes it up the hills and with my wife we really have to peddle hard. I have my amps set to 15 because of my small batt. What is the highest amps I can safely go? I live on the Sunshine Coast in B.C. and I do have some hills to contend with. What is your strategy for getting your heavy bikes up the hills? Most of the hills are less than .5kl. Thanks johnnyd

My strategy is the same as yours so far.. pedal my ass off and barely make it to the top. Which works fine for me!

You have more motor than me. Sounds like you could use more battery though. Double up on amphour then turn up the current limit. Your motor should be fine at more than 20 amps continuous.. Unlike mine!
