i just remembered ,, there was no connection between pins 15 and 16 ,, this was the reason i had to trace to find another way around it ,
there are a couple of bits missing on the bottom board, so there is nothing going to pin 16 on the bottom board, the only way around it was connecting pin 16 on the top [led] board to the neg- on the bottom board.
i never got around to connecting the orange readout, as i didn't check the temp of my solder iron and burnt some of the tracks when connecting the new pins.
the iron was at 850c but should have been around 600c,
i will see if i can retrack some or the overheated tracks at some point , but for now i have put the parts in the [someday] box.
the blue led screen works great with this meter,
