Any update on when the first run of 'big blocks' should be ready to ship out? I finally have my CA3 and 12s6p pack all ready and waiting.... now just waiting for my Clavicle to heal...

Way to go Mike, looks like you're kicking ass and getting a really polished initial version out to everyone. It must have been quite the undertaking from where you started to where you are at now.

Thanks again!

Zack

Hey Zack-

My first job is to get the existing small block queue under control. I do have a couple of big block kit orders that are coming up in the overall production order. So you'll get to see a couple of big blocks being built up very soon. The only part of real significance that's left to work out is the wider jackshaft and housing. The wide motor needs about 32mm more reach side to side. I'm going to go ahead and order around five big motors assuming that they will sell as soon as they get here in three weeks or so.

Some parts of this process have been really easy for me, some parts have been pretty challenging. Today I got to learn all about pin connectors and how much fun crimping them can be. I can see that I'm going to need to order more metal pins for the plastic connectors that I have. I'm mauling about half of them at this point.

Thanks for your positive comments Zack. Some days I'm the boot, some days I'm the butt.

Get mended so you can get back in the saddle!

I can see where Dani's might be going with this.
Expanding on it with my own thoughts (just brain dumping idea's).
If you made the top and bottom plates that mount to the motor - 1 piece each side instead of a top and bottom set separately, you'd add strength I believe, and possibly simplicity? That's similar to how Dani's drawn it but not including the bottom bracket plates - you still want to be able to adjust that distance for the secondary chain tensioning.
If you also made the bottom adjustment bolts the same bolts that hold the motor you'd be saving on a few bolts and would have something solid between them (the motor) to allow the bolts to bite well.
Less bolts means less weight too as a bonus.

Actually I can see for myself it wouldn't work without adding the need to bend the bottom plates in other ways to get to the right bb width, adding complications to the manufacture process.
Still, even bad idea's can be useful/helpful :)

Sorry for the confusion, here's what I meant.

Thanks for the drawing Dani. If the area outlined in red is the entire mount system I don't think it could work. But get out there and prove me wrong.

:) It will take me some time, but I will. The BB should be as wide as the motor, otherwise i need to work with spacer sleeves.. or bend it two more times. If only I had the equipment, man, I would be lost in the garage right now.

Edit:

A little bit fancy.. and just a quick shot. I could imagine aluminium, 6mm, could do the job. Safes weight, looks fancy. Thoughts?
regarding slides: you could slide the whole motor vertically. I think it's worth a try :)
I don't know how much power this will survive, but I guess I'll find out.

Yes you're going to be very popular.

Thanks for your patience, Finn. It's a good thing you waited because a standard length bracket wouldn't have fit your curving front downtube.

Jim L your parts are shipping out to San Franciso today. This is the last of my parts orders that predate the full kits. Now I can concentrate 100% on producing complete kits.

i just heard that U.S suspended all flights to israel for 24 hours, due to some silly rocket threat.

if this goes keeps up and includes shipments as well, you'll find me somewhere on a tall ledge.. (don't worry i won't ask for a refund when i'll take the sawn dive.. )

Mike, do you know if the lyen controllers require any programming on user end?

Lyen will program the controller to your specs, you can program it with a USB connection and a laptop, or you can program the limits through the optional CA plug. The CA lets you do it right on the bike.

I'll try to keep posting enough information so that everyone can see the progress and not get discouraged. At some point I'll probably write about all of the problems and setbacks I've had but not now. Right now let's focus on getting these kits finished and in people's hands so they can go riding. :D

="LightningRods". At some point I'll probably write about all of the problems and setbacks I've had..
will it be available on Amazon?
Don't forget to license the movie rights... I want Brad Pitt to play me..

I think I should be played by Daniel Dae Kim or Rick Yune. I think John Cho is a bit too scrawny to play me.

All right wise guys. I was thinking more of just a bitch session here for a paragraph or two, not a novel.

I have some casting suggestions for you two, but you probably wouldn't like them. :p

This is torture! I printed off the list and put it on my office wall. Probably not such a good idea. Like putting a calendar in front of a kid the month before Christmas.
