LMX P2 : Freeride trials motorcycle frame development

I actually overshot the landing by quite a bit on this take (still got it rigth 3 times before but I wanted to wipe it beffore realising I was going way too fast haha)
Here's a view of the new frame, we started prototyping :D

You could have a bit of trials fun on that with the seat bracket removed and some smaller rims. Looks like its going to be versatile!

That looks great. Do you have a weight guestimate?

Agree with the 1 above here - it kind of does make the swing arm look a little puny. Or at least at this angle it does.
But overall this looks awesome. And cool to see a mid drive ;)

When will you release for sale you think?

I really like the swingarm, and the totally integrated motor. That is really nice. Is that a bigblock? Or a normal GNG size?

I am not sure if the section around the Motor is stiff enough.
You only have those to sideplates, that are held together by the Motor, and there is the swingarm and the bb mount near by. That could result in a lot of flex. But i am sure you gone test and handle that so.

When can I buy a Frame?

Wow, you are the guy who posted this video on youtube several years ago when I was looking into using an RC motor on my bike.

I could see that you were really creative back then, you had very clean design work. Congratulations on your bike company. I hope you build some kick ass bikes.

With what numbers of forces did you do the FEA? I am interested because the image I saw looked "very blue".

Will you continue to make the old frame as well? Or will you offer this with an mx saddle and without pedals?

Will you reinforce the two tabs that hold the bb shell? (new frame)
There is a whole heap of twistyness from pedalling that they have to deal with.

frack I need to bust my ass and keep making progress on my bike... got my 3kw motor just sitting around collecting dust...

keep up the good work, inspirational!

is it 100mm BB width?
must be wide..or is this a shorter motor?
looks like huge reduction with #219 chain 8)
reach for the sky!
Yes it is a 100mm BB with a regular width GNG motor (73mm), we are trying to source a 80mm motor that would give us 30 or 35mm of stator, but no luck for now. We also have a big block modification project that would fit this frame for 50mm of stator.

I used 2000N in the fork axis and 1000 n/m of torque representing braking forces, but this was more to get an idea of possible failure points! Testing can't really be replaced for those king of projects...

The P2 frames will sitill be produced in eastern europe, I should get the prototype frame any day now and have frames to sell in febuary!

The BB will be welded on one side and fixed with 3m6 bolts on the other side. The motor will also add stiffness to the assembly. The motor plates have also been modified to have way more meat in the swingarm attachement point.

Hey yes bikes ain't building themselves alone!

I am really lucky to work with Lucas on this project, same thing for the LMX P2 frames, working together enabled us to create really nice things and go forward really fast! On the new frame project we also work with Roshan of Biktrix bikes, and team work has been really efficient so far! Stay tuned for more ;)

Can you let us know a bit about the battery pack you are using? I know you had a Lipo pack for a while on your other frame. Are you using a 14s5p of 18650 cells? Where did you get this and how are you charging it?
I can get a bunch of new laptop batteries on the cheap and thinking of doing something similar, but Lipo still seems the easiest way to do this without having a spot welder.

Laptop batteries dont have high C rating, so will not last long. For small and light battery you would need something like DBHE2 or 4, LG.

Wow! What a great place to ride. Where is this?

Did you already calculate the "new" price? Or will it still be around 650€.

What will be the price of the new frame? With pedals it looks like the perfect bike for me.

We also have a big block modification project that would fit this frame for 50mm of stator.

How does that work? Removing the side plates to accomodate a larger motor? How do you ensure stability then?

I'm surprised you get so much power out of a 450w mid drive. I watched a couple of videos of the cyclone motor and they generally need much higher wattage setups for powerful ebikes.

Good stuff. Looks cool.

Where did you read 450w?
