Hello,

I am looking to put the Magic Pie 3 20" rear wheel on my 1980's Kuwahara Magican EX BMX bike and the problem is that the Magic Pie 3 rear wheel is 130mm and I need somewhere between 100-110mm to fit the rear frame of the BMX bike. Has anyone been able to mill the axle back a bit and put more threads on the axle to accommodate the skinnier frame? I was considering putting a front Magic Pie 3 20" on but I really would rather have the rear wheel with a sprocket.

You can do either one.

Can grind/file the axle of a rear hub to extend the flats closer to the hub, and then just use stack of washers, or a single spacer, between the outside of the dropouts and the nuts. (no need to machine further threads on axle).

I use a clamping dropout so no need for the spacer/nuts, but this is an example of the above:

Or can add a threaded freewheel holder to a front hub.
