MudMomMerry said:We bought an Amped Bikes kit for our daughter who is 14. When it arrived the front wheel made a clicking noise. After some runaround with the owner (I think his name is Danny), which took far too long considering what the problem was, he told us we had to go to a bike shop and buy a wrench and tighten the spokes on the wheel. This seemed pretty lame when he should have done that before he sent it to us, but anyway we go to the store and buy a wrench, and it turns out that the wrenches they sell at the bike store don't even work on this wheel. The spokes are actually motorcycle spokes! So we had to go to a motorcycle shop clear across town and buy this special wrench to adjust this silly wheel that should have been tightened before it ever got shipped. Every spoke on it was loose. I guess he just gets the parts and doesn't even check them. We won't be doing business with him again.
I have to say, not good. It would leave a bad taste in my mouth, too. However, I got a conversion kit from Danny in October, and I did not have a problem with it (I had gone through one of his dealers, who had it drop-shipped to me). I got SLAs with it, and when the bag slipped off the rack (due to me changing a couple of things around and not putting it on securely, I have to say), he offered to replace any of the batts which were damaged in the fall (and succeeding skid) for free even though it was my fault, but they had come out OK. The wheels were, and still are, tight.
That being said, things do sometimes slip through. I don't know Danny personally, but cyber-communication is not his strong suit (he checks one of his email addresses on the website a lot more frequenetly than the other, but I don't remember which). I do think he should have at least offered to send you a spoke wrench for his 12ga. spokes. In fact, I think he should include one in all of his kits, I'll suggest that strongly (to both email addresses).
BTW, he does say that the kit is manufactured in China, from which I would assume the wheel is built there.
Hope it goes better, if I can help you from my experience with the bike conversion and afterwards, feel free to PM me.
