MFS on/off switch no longer working with CA

I managed to short out the dc power out connection to a front light connected to a cycle analyst V3-WP. Yes, I did something stupid. Everything still works as it should except that the multifunction switch power on/off button no longer works and when charging the battery on the bike, the CA stays on. The other buttons on the MFS are working correctly and there are no issues with the throttle or PAS to the motor. I've tried searching but haven't found an answer as to exactly what I might have done to the circuit and whether there is an easy fix or even to know whether the problem is with the CA or the MFS at this point.

What I've tried so far:
Disconnect the battery and controller (Z9 baserunner) from the CA3
Reinstalled the firmware on the CA3
Checked the controller for faults-none detected
Disconnected and reconnected the MFS

Any guidance/help greatly appreciated.

I wish I had more information. The switch is from grin. I've searched for a wiring diagram but can't find one. FWIW it has a 5 pin connector. I realize that's probably not enough detail to be of use, but that's as much as I've got so far.

that helps--must be something new since i last saw their site.

that page gives this

which shows which pins are which on the "ca connector" (not related to the switch functions)

and this shows what it looks like

and this explains some of what the switch is for

so the m button scrolls thru the ca screens, most likely it is wired in parallel with the righthand button below the screen. the + and - buttons are wired to the digiaux input, and the red button is the ca power switch.

so...if the ca is normally powered on or off by the red button, but now it is only powered on and off by the battery itself, then the switch is no longer working.

either the switch is stuck on, mechanically or electrically, or the wiring itself has damaged (melted?) insulation allowing
the switch wires to short to each other.

so, you may be able to repair the switch, or wires, or you can buy a new switch unit from grin, if they sell them separately from the ca3-wp kit.

if the dc out on the ca for the light still works, then there's nothing to fix there. if it doesn't work, you'd probably have to send the ca to grin for repair to fix it.

Thanks very much for your reply. Very helpful! I wasn't sure if the problem was with the switch or the CA. Glad to hear it is more likely the switch. I'll see if Grin will sell the switch separately. They don't have it on their website apart from the bundle but hopefully they will let me buy it on its own. Otherwise, it could be worse, the switch could have been stuck in the off position! Thanks again for your help.

Whoa I did the same thing and the exact problem occured 2 years later the answer is here nice, so i will disassemble the switch if nothing is apparent i'll buy new switch. And I have been using my bike light thru ca3.

Hi guys.

I have the exact same problem. A short has happened on the light power plug of the CycleAnalyst and since then the power-on button of the MFSwitch in unresponsive.
Have you been able to solve the issue by replacing the MF Switch ?
