Hallo!
Client have a Sterling Diamond mobility scooter powered with 2x 12V 50Ah AGM batteries. I have got permission to exchange for analog 12V 40-50 Ah LiFepo4 batteries. With this scooter lose 20 kg of weight and longer
Li batteries has BMS built in. How to do better - is this right solution to use battery charge balancer
or I need one 24V BMS for both batteries.
Or do nothing. Here from producer:
The electrical parameters of the PowerBrick lithium battery 12V-45Ah are compatible in all respects with those of an AGM lead battery of 12V. In the vast majority of cases, the charging system can be kept the same and no additional accessories are required to perform the replacement.
The PowerBrick Lithium battery 12V-45Ah has a nominal voltage of 12.8V. It can be easily assembled in series (up to 4 PowerBrick 12V in series, or 2 PowerBrick 24V in series) and in parallel (up to 16 PowerBrick in parallel).

A BMS is always recommended to be there just in case, but you can do a straight swap if you want to.

Ask the manufacturer if the batteries can be placed in series? if they can be used as a 24V battery pack without modifications then the built in BMS will work.

Later floyd

My client switched reverse :)
I'm watched some Will Prowse video, including teardown and was ready to place an order on Amazon. Then she called me not to change anything and to buy AGM. Some house neighbours say that LiPo never work :D
20 minutes and order be placed, bad experience.

If you buy two LiFePo 24V 20-25AH you could connect them in parallel for a more reliable, longer life setup that would stay balanced better. I don't know which company makes a battery of that spec.

If it'd fit your battery box, it be even more ideal to buy a single 24V 40-50 AH battery because then no balancing concerns.

If you must buy 12V batteries, then these are the 2 I'd recommend:

CanBat chargers sold here:

12V 6A charger here 12V 6A Lithium Battery Charger (LiFePO₄) - Free Shipping Canada

24V 3A charger here 24V 3A Lithium Battery Charger (LiFePO₄) - Free Shipping Canada

They also have more powerful chargers available with more Amps and/or Volts if you want that, but be careful not to get too powerful a charger or you'll fry your scooter/w-chair internal charging wires.
