night time ebike ride just seems like the thing to do. Going to invest in some head lights for the summer coming up.

Yeah I love night rides.
I have made my own lights with 3 watt LEDs ,each bike has 8 LEDs so 24watts. IMO its a good amount of light for moderate offroading at night. Those 4wd led spotlights look like a good option to.
And the new COB LEDs are good for high power in a small unit but the beam is quite wide due to the module design/size. I think some one has the COB style ones for sale on the stealth thread. Bit bulky for me but what ever floats ya boat.

Between your night ride video, and Cowerdly ducks from the Stealth thread, I am sold. July and August get really hot here, night time or early morning rides is the way to go. Going to put it to practice next summer.

i dont know how this happened but it had to be fixed.
so i bent the hanger back and almost cross threaded the bolt when mounting the derailer back on the hanger but i had a few goes and got it right. adjusted the limiter bolts and adjusted cable for the gear alighnment.

twisted alright,

hey since you are back on the road are you going to look back into building that frame you were designing?

You've prob seen this guys? looks a bit similar to what you were doing.

You need some cotton wool over your microphone.

yeah fully man. i used to do that, i should put some more in there, cheers for the reminder.

also you might be able to hear my squeaky crank. the nut keeps going loose. not to sure how to keep it tight. i did it up pretty dam tight last time (second time) i tightened it. i may use some blue lock tight. theres a heap of grease in there on the nut so that may be why its lossening up and creaking around?

Hardened fastenings into hardened steel seems to give that 'crack' when you undo them, becoming instantly loose. Not much elasticity I guess, so they quickly go from loose to tight. My crank bolts came with that gunk on them and the originals had used it to. I reckon you have it sussed.

...just readed your axle trouble...I twisted mine too a couple of months...I think you should round the sharp edge of your dropouts just a 1mm to avoid stress to concentrate on the edge...I readed another key is not to screw too much but use loctite, otherless you'd add some traction stress (screwed) to the axle, and so it would cumulate with the torsion stresses...

Thanks Yeah I think Rix said tighten left side nut first to take up the slack of wheelie torque.
Anyway it was the car v3 setup badly by me that had a major power stutter causing a hammering on the axle with hard take offs.
I have it setup nice now. Smooth but fast. Perfect for drag racing 4wd cars at the tragic lights :D

Yah, smooth is fast and fast is faster than slow... errr something like that. You know what they say? "loose ebikes sink ships".

That sux Dan. Did you fix it yet?

Yeah Rix. Slow is smooth is fast. What I meant was the throttle up ramp is smooth but fast
So if you go WOT from a stand still there is usually 1 single fluter of the power dropping away for a couple 1/10ths of a second but its not like on off on. Just a smooth ripple. I could have smoothed it out more but the ramp up time would be to long for when I'm doing power wheelies in the park

Loose lips sink ships - go down like loose women
Watch ya moth son or ya better start swimming'
;)
A line from my old hip hop group, mc sinic

yeah in process, still 2mm we could not finished it on friday evenning...but I got a replacement as I ordered the axle from Kenny....
the Kelly as a variable delay to apply WOT after a WCT but the guy should have do it synchor with the 1s dealy I setup...

hey man! i just went through all this with my hs4065.

took Johns advice very seriously and made sure i pressed it in on the shoulder, not on the end.

a couple of bits of waterpipe,2 sizes, cut to the right length worked wonders, to support at the collar and press at the shoulder, but if your mate has lathed em up thats even better.

this axle material is as strong as cheese!

good luck with it. :D

Cheers. Yeah the material is normal steel, Maby plated in something?
A chroMoly one with 14mm threaded section would be cool. I think that's what stealth replace there's with.

sorry mate IDK about upgraded axels. I'm fairly sure I read somewhere that stealth use upgraded ones. asumably they make them, but could be sourced from a cnc milling place.

heres how i connect the power on the monster. I made this video to show GCinDC but im sure others will find it benificial as there seems to be alot of ambiguity about precharge connectors resistors and leds.
