I recently acquired a Motorino XMR second hand. Lead acid batteries were recently replaced with new (~100km on them) and the bike rides fine. Upon disconnecting the limiter I noticed that there was no speed increase. The bike caps out on the speedo at about 30km/hr riding on flats with and without the limiter attached.
Another thing to note is when I apply full throttle and then let off 1/4 of a turn, there appears to be a "boost" in electric power, giving me a top speed of about 38 km/hr if sustained. It is tough to feather this 1/4 turn off max throttle, and would rather just have this speed boost when I've applied full throttle. This boost only occurs when the limiter is CONNECTED, and does not come on when it is disconnected.
Does this seem like a weird hack done by the previous owner? He knew about the "boost" effect, but hadn't touched the wiring under the shell (it was all bundled and attached OEM style with a mess of zip-ties). Could this be a weird motorino thing? Any idea why the limiter doesn't change the top speed at all?
