muxus 3000 chugging ?

Have you inspected the hall and phase wires carefully for nicks or melting inside the motor?
FYI, The white wire is the temp sensor, not part of the hall sensors.

I looked hard at the wire harness then pulled 8in. thru the axle and resolder the shorten phase wires, left the halls long. I tested the halls with ebike tested with motor closed and when open. All testing find. I will open up and test if test good I think I should replace halls and test. if that dosn't work I will to to the replace wire harness. But think the wire harness more than the halls , just a guess on which to do first. fills like hall problem thu.

Still chugging after new jst. On the 9fet. Lyen. Made jumpers for combos, tried John's Cr. combo solver.A working combo 1.43a no load. 80v 30a.

That combo doesn't look right to me for a Lyen controller. I wired mine the same as I did my GM motor to my Hua Tong controller, which is the same as Lyens controller wiring to GM motor and it seems to run fine. Mine is
b-b, g-y, y-g for both halls and phase wires.

Wesnewell yes that is the combo I use with the lyen at first. I was trying John CR six combo's and found that one. Paul's controller was changed by Paul to run on his Muxus d.d. motor before he sends them out. He sends them out with a color match wires. So could go thru more combos as it could be different from the smaller muxus d.d. Remember it ran fine for 8mi. as this is the confusing part. With Paul's 12 fet. meant for a muxus.
Or does the 3,000 have the same combo as the smaller muxus d.d. ?

I tried what I understand as John cr combos. I will try the 36 combos next before opening it up. I like the 36 combo sheet if I can find it. I used it before so is easier than Paul's color sheet for me, if I can find the down load.

When you find a combo that works, check the rpm with an optical tachometer. You should be getting 9 rmp per volt with that motor. If its higher than that, then you have a false positive phase/halls combo.

What I don't understand is why would it run fine for 8mi. and then have a wire combo problem ? You're saying a false positive delay ? It wasn't hot.
I guess I'm delaying the 36 .

I had a 2807 motor that I ran for a while with a false positive connection. It sounded terrible, but luckily I didn't blow up the controller before I realized it. The controller did get pretty hot though.
I am really curious to know what your problem is, though. Crack that baby open :wink:

No load amp draw 0.89. With Paul's 12fet.and wire colors. He use to sell muxus D.D. motors. I guess it must be open.
Edit: will do 36 first. Took off chain.

Zip man it looks like you have had the same results with 2 controllers. Chug chug chug...
Sounds like trouble in the motor. But what as all tests are ok.
Might try phase to phase resistance test that John incr posted in the science math goodbye kf thread.
uses 1 voltmeter 1 amp meter 1 lightbulb to measure voltage drop across phase leads.
Check the resistance of all phase combos.
I wonder if there is a winding problem. A small? short maybe???

My guess is a short in the halls as it will do 30 mph 3200 watts.

3200W for 30 mph sounds about double of what it should be.

I open it up and found the axle wires had a cut so pulled 8in. and resolder plus replaced two working halls because I broke the legs off mussing with them, so replaced. And cut wire section. About 11 solders joints. Tested fine before and after. Same chugging. I would replace wire harness, but don't have a good one big enough for a 3,000. Plus 11 plus solder and the pos.-neg 3 wire hall jumper. Lot's of work. And it still test fine as before. I would replace wire harness if had one, but this is getting to be a Big time bucket.
This didn't change a thing.

I would only replace the wire harness if it's the right one as it's to easy to break halls. Where can I get one with heavy phase wires, not supper fat. Just replacement in proper gauge wire.

It's going to warm up enough here in a few days that I'll get out and ride again. I'll record the sound of the motor and see if it's what you are hearing. I've haven't ridden it a lot but I do seem to recall some loping noise at slow speeds. I'm running 24s lipo on a 40A controller.

It depends on riding style, weight, surface, street, trails,w.o.t time, hills and more.
I think 72v 60amp controller 4800watts is safe. You have a temp sensor, hook up a ohm meter.
