My ebike PAS is too aggressive

I imagine PAS support must be better since i tinkered with it.
The native PAS support of the VESC is still the same, I think. It still needs an exotic quadrature PAS (like the CA ;))
You can choose between cadence dependent assistance or constant torque.

But there are some workarounds with lisp scripts, for simple 3 wire PAS sensors
I've added support for a Bafang Display and a T17 BB torquesensor.

To get a smooth assistance there is no expensive Base/Phaserunner in combination with a cycle analyst necessary. There are several much cheaper alternatives available.
A simple Kunteng system is already mentioned. Many people are completely happy with the simple power levels.

The CA doesn't require anything fancy for PAS (though it supports it if you want it). You can use a plain old 1-wire signal (simple pulses) that doesnt' even tell it direction if you want.
