my new E bike newbie here.

Yeah have done that now just waiting for a reply.. Going to go a 450 watt motor 500watt 48v speed controller and get me a new throttle.. Looking at 110 bucks before freight good pricing i just hope he will help me out and post them to Australia. The sooner i get this stuff the sooner i can stop pedaling to work which sucks arse...

So in a few days my bike will have a 36v 450 watt motor 48v controller and new full grip throttle.. Chris @ tnc said running a 36v motor @ 48v is alot better then 24v motor it will keep the heat down but will my batteries handle 48v fine? My batteries are SLA's? and i just read somewhere that they dont like being over powered. Will this set up shorten my battery life by much ?

Personally i like the frame you have, whack a decent motor on it some lifep04s or A123 prismatics and you would have a killer bike, the extra length in that frame will be beneficial for handling along with more room for batteries...

No i got my package from tnc yesturday. 36v 450 watt motor 500 watt controller and new hand twisty throttle thingo.
Put it all together took me an hour and i was up riding again..
The 450 watt motor running 48v is not faster then the 48v 200watt gearing maybe ? the 200watt had alot more top end speed then this sucker.
Im still happy with it as it rides a whole lot better then it use to.
On the last set up my throttle or speed controller was dodge so much so that as soon as i flick the power on it would launch as half throttle and idle was switched around so turning it on was half throttle and half throttle was idle.

The 450 watt motor is only slightly larger in size to the 200 watt one i had on there i was suprised at that. I have now decided to movemy 2nd pack off the carry rack and into a bag that hangs over the top post in the middle of the bike. feels alot better having the weight there instead of over the back wheel. Ill get pics after work. might even put a video up of me heading to work.
I would think this set up does has a top speed of around 40kmph..

Over all im very happy and would highly recommend TNC scooters chris was a great help great pricing and fast delivery to Australia.

Sounds like your gear limited for sure...I have a spare #25 sprocket here on a scooter i found, not sure of the tooth count can check it for you, let me know what size your using now, if mine is smaller will increase your top end speed...Can have it for free if you pay postage im in Western Australia...

I have had nothing but good service from TNC myself, would recommend thme for anyone after brushed setup..

EDIT: im sure i still have the 350watt motor from the scooter too, i did pull it apart, i would think the brushes would fit the 450watt i can send those your way too if you like, good to have spares...

The sprocket coming off the motor is the same size and tooth as the 200 watt i believe. As for inside i had a look at it but i was scared to touch as i have a habbit of breaking things not fixing them so i closed it up and bolted it up.
40kmph is fine atm. If i was to do anything more i would need to upgrade my brakes.
When i hit full throttle early the motor shutters like its under too much load. You need to ease the throttle or pedal before flooring it will get you speed. Its a little different fron the 200 watt. But i like the size of the new motor after i glue on the 200 watt sticker to this one ill be all legal again hehe.
Gets pretty good range i did approx 10 to 12 k's yesturday on my test ride and no hint of it going flatt.

Next and final thing i think ill buy is a multimeter and a watts~up display. Misses hates me spending money and time on my bike and i wasnt popular yesturday when i spent all day on it with out getting her valentines presents.

Grab a Turnigy Meter from HobbyCity save yourself some bucks and make the missus happier......i bet she spends money on her hair, make-up and nails, but thats all right because its her...

Your a champ.. Ill beg the misses for one of those asap.
I sent her to the local electronics shop today to get me some connectors.
Im not really sure what guage but i had an off cut of wire for her to take.
I think its 10 guage. here is a little pic.

What i do now is twist wires together and duct tape them then pull it apart to charge it as my charger is only 24volt.
I want conectors that will plug together but then pull apart but allow me to clip alligator clips to the connector to charge it.
The store i buy all my electric shit from say they have nothing like this. Any ideas who would? or pics of an example of what im talking about ?

Ok so i searched and couldnt find the connectors im talking about so i got to thinking maybe ill do something like this.

Note the circle are like ring terminals and i could secure them together via some plate with wingnuts to hold them down., This way i can easily pull it apart to charge it and it wont damage it every time i undo it like it is with twisting the wires together..

What do you think is that and good connection much the same as what you would use on your car battery ???

LoL... ...you put andersons on BOTH wires ie. on the battery wires AND on the charging wires... Depending on the size of the aligator clips they might even fit inside the andersons they are quite large connectors...alternatively if you wish to keep the clips on the charger, make up a two leads with andersons on one end and bare wire on the other, aligator clip on bare end plug batteries into the other...

I use anderson connectors myself on battery to motor connections and gold platedbullet connectors everywhere
else, perhaps order some of these and tellz the missus they are for a necklace for her

Oh now i get you. Thats a great idea well done again kim.
I told the misses i need a battery display unit for my bike and she said what does it do.
I told her it tells me how much battery i have left which means ill be out of the house longer.
She said thats a good deal for 25 or so dollars.
Im going to get some kickass lights too i bought a headlight before but its shit and i need the front and rear..
She has agreed to buy both of these this week.

Last night i rode to the pub to play poker. It pissed down just as i went all in and lost. I waited 20 mins for it to ease and shot off home.
the bike and i got a little wet but it survived the trip well pretty happy with that. I just went slow (half throttle) all the way home to stop water spray off the tyres,.

Dude, you are a riot. lol

So no problems getting a little wet? I always wonder about electrics in the rain?
